Zuck reveals upcoming WhatsApp features via unexpected group chat

WhatsApp CEO Will Cathcart and Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg reportedly shared a lot of news about upcoming WhatsApp features. However, the news didn’t come through a press release or social media post, but rather through an obvious group chat with a prominent leaker.

The person behind the celebrity WABetaInfo The site has reportedly been added to a WhatsApp group chat that featured Cathcart and Zuckerberg. And the Facebook co-founder confirmed a number of features to come, including a disappearance mode for each chat thread (previously it was limited to one-on-one chats), a “view once” feature (send content to someone and then make it disappear), and Support for multiple devices without an active internet connection on the main device.

Cathcart also shed light on multi-device support, saying that a public beta of the feature will start within the next two months and that multi-device support will be maximum at four devices.

The CEO also touched on WhatsApp for iPad, saying the company would be “happy to support” the app on Apple’s tablets, but it would need to properly implement multi-device capabilities to make it possible. Anyway, we’re happy that multi-device support in particular isn’t far off, especially since Telegram has been offering a similar feature for some time.

That all sounds like a pretty incredible twist, however WABetaInfo has the best track record when it comes to WhatsApp feature news and combing through the latest updates to find out what’s next. We still advise you to take this with caution, but this is about as good a third-party source as it gets when it comes to WhatsApp messages in general.
