You would’ve bought the canceled LG Velvet 2 Pro

LG Velvet 2 Pro still 3

LG decided to leave the smartphone business earlier this year, which resulted in the company canceling several phones that were in development. We took a closer look at one of those phones, the LG Velvet 2 Pro, earlier this month when a handy video popped up online.

The phone had a Snapdragon 888 SoC, a 120Hz screen, a versatile triple rearview camera, and a 4,500mAh battery, which was a handy device on paper. But would you buy this phone if it actually had a commercial launch? We asked that in our survey last week.

Would you have bought the LG Velvet 2 Pro?

Results

We published the poll on June 23rd and it has garnered over 1,800 votes so far. The final result? A total of 84.4% of respondents say they would actually buy the LG Velvet 2 Pro if it got a commercial launch. That’s a big landslide victory for the Pro LG camp.

Just over 15% of voters say they wouldn’t buy the abandoned flagship, and the comments suggest that the lack of a headphone jack is the main reason to skip this. It would be a controversial decision indeed, as almost all LG smartphones except the LG Wing include the 3.5mm connector.

We also have some reservations about consumers who buy the smartphone. Eventually LG went out of business because people weren’t buying its devices. While it might have been a hit with LG fans and audiophiles, it would probably have been a losing proposition.

Remarks

  • Chad Higgins: I still want to buy a V70.
  • Tim: So I would buy this phone, with the upgrades and the extra accessories … broken dreams.
  • nemesys06: The specs are nice, but there’s one thing missing that made me my LG device, the headphone jack. You also didn’t use your standard jack, but rather a dining headphone jack with Quad DAC. I think LG’s biggest problem was identity. You never really stick to one idea over and over again. Line the headphone jack, they should have marketed this and developed audio software to really take advantage of the benefits.
  • Tigerex966: No headphone jack or Quad-DAC, no sale, but looked good. Does it have an SD card. I like the look over the iPhone and s21, but I like the Sony better.
  • Brandon Vega: I have the V60 Dual Screen and while these specs are pretty amazing, I am very happy with my V60.
