You like what you see of Android 12 so far

It’s almost that time of year again when the new Android developers preview is sent to registered users. We may have already got a first look at the upcoming Android 12 update thanks XDA developer, along with many other details.

The visible screenshots show a light beige look (possibly due to the support for themes in Android 12) and lots of rounded widgets. It is also assumed that some privacy-related optimizations and additions will also be received. So that asked us what Android Authority Readers were thinking of Android 12 at this point.

What do you think of the previous Android 12 leaks?

Results

We released the poll on February 10, 2021 and 1,099 votes were counted at the time of writing. The results show that nearly three quarters of voters like what they see at the time. We can see why too, with the privacy features in particular (e.g. camera and microphone indicators and new privacy switches) being pretty useful additions.

A quarter of the readers surveyed expressed dissatisfaction with the apparent Android 12 leaks, but made up the majority of the votes in the comments. These comments indicate that the possible UI design is the main complaint. It seems like it was in the early days of Android 12, so it’s still possible for the visual style to change if the screenshots are actually correct.

However, it is also possible that some features will be rolled back to a later version of Android, as we saw with Android 11, and features like the double tap gesture on the back. We hope to get this missing feature and much more in the stable version of Android 12.

Remarks

  • anmol: looks absolutely hideous with these curves. Make sure to include this in your comments. smfh
  • PRSXFENG: No, no, no, the direction that everything is spinning is just not great.
  • Anthorama: 74% should get an iPhone because they just like its design
  • Dog jacket: The rounded corners bring it closer to iOS and MacOS. Android loses its uniqueness with these curves. Right now, like Microsoft – subtly rounded, Apple – radically rounded, Google – somewhere in between. But the theme and privacy features are good.
  • Andrew Zuo: Looks too much like iOS. Consist. The notification bar is already working. Google doesn’t have to change them every time it is published.
  • Mike S: In addition to the others, it would surely be nice if some kind of external display worked and was widely supported. Similar to DEX maybe and not just Chromecast? As promised in the Nexxus 4, but with HDMI.
  • Drone9: Layout – Ok. Color – Wtf happened to your color calibration?

That’s it for our Android 12 poll, thanks for voting and for submitting comments! What do you think of the Android 12 leaks? Let us know through the comments.
