Several recent reports have caused the death knell for the Samsung Galaxy Note series. Some say Samsung will drop the phablet line entirely in 2021, while others insist there could be one final note on the way out next year.
Based on these reports, we asked our readers what they think of Samsung merging the Galaxy Note series with the Galaxy S flagship line. We also asked our audience on YouTube: Twitterand our website when Samsung is supposed to shut down the Galaxy Note series completely. Here are the results of those two surveys.
Would you like Samsung to merge the Galaxy S and Note series?
Do you think Samsung should kill the Galaxy Note series?
Results
60.4% of the 1,238 Android Authority Readers who voted in our first poll were against the idea of Samsung merging the S and Note lineups. This opinion in favor of the Note range was further reinforced by the results of our second survey.
Of the nearly 25,360 votes on our website, YouTube channel and Twitter page, 60.66% were Android AuthorityThe audience said they don’t believe Samsung should kill the Galaxy Note series. Meanwhile, 39.34% believe the company should give up the phablet lead.
The results were unanimous across all platforms on which we conducted the survey. It is clear that the Samsung Note series still holds a high place in people’s hearts and minds, even as the company is likely to roll over the S-Pen, one of its key features, to the Galaxy S and Fold models.
Even so, arguments can be made both for and against the Galaxy Note series. On the one hand, the Note line was a pioneer in large-screen phones and is considered the best that Samsung has to offer. On the other hand, it’s barely innovative any more and an S-Pen may not be enough to justify its existence.

Here’s what you had to say
- Yassin Maamoun: I think if one of the galaxy’s S21s gets an S-Pen, it’s just a next-generation note with a different name. So I don’t think it really matters what the device is called while consumers still have the option to purchase it.
- Ali Marwan: Note users know that the S-Pen isn’t the only reason to buy a note.
- Carl Thomas: It’s a mixed bag for me. A big part of the fascination of the Notes is, on the one hand, the box-shaped design that doesn’t seem to make it into the S series. Another big advantage of the Notes is of course the S Pen, which, according to rumors, has no home in the body of the S21 or the Z Fold 3 – instead the S Pen is sold separately or something. Now I hope these latter rumors are false because when I have to remember to take my pen with me, one of the Note series’ biggest selling points is gone and I’ll probably jump over to the Surface Duo as I already bring my Surface Computer + Pen is with me all the time.
- Nostromo: If it means getting a folding phone with an S-Pen and a flat screen, I would approve if the notes go away.
- Demongornot: The more phones the better, it’s a breeze. The variety is already the lowest on the Android market, with the exception of less crazy phones like foldable or LG Wing. There have never been so few designs and functions. The last thing we need is fewer phones.
- PhoenixWitti: A note with a different name is still a note. And it sounds like Samsung is doing that, so I voted “no”.
- Mejustsayin: Get rid of the note and there will be no reason to stick with Samsung phones.
- D9: Before Sammy kills the Note line for their big fall release, you’d better do something about the $ 2,000 price tags and find some water resistance based on an actual IP rating for their leaflets or prepare for a serious disappointment, lol.
- Jim Duarte: If so, I’d better start saving now. When this last note gets published I can buy two, one to use and one to save until the first dies! As mentioned earlier, the “S” line would work as long as Samsung has a way to charge and save the S-Pen!
- Aubin Baldonado: I’m going to miss it, but we have to be honest after the Note 9 innovations started falling apart.
- @red_tones: I like the Note series and see it as a trademark for what “Peak” Samsung is. I would hate using a folding phone while cliff jumping. It’s more of a preference than a money choice.
- @Nypctechman: Samsung needs to get rid of curved glass and never bring it back. Getting rid of the Note series would be a mistake, at least for now. The S series would have to have more features to justify the move. But as a Note user, it’s almost time. A pen is not enough to justify this.
- @ thesam013: The Note series pioneered today’s phone format with bigger screens and better specs for better performance all round. It should go on
