  • The Commons Project is working with Samsung so you can download a verifiable digital record of your vaccination status.
  • Samsung smartphone owners in the US can share their vaccination cards with a QR code with Samsung Pay.
  • Most Samsung phones will have access to this feature by the end of the week.

To make your vaccination status more accessible, The Commons Project is partnering with Samsung to enable Samsung smartphone owners in the US to digitally download, save, and view their vaccination status using Samsung Pay.

You need to download the CommonHealth app from the Google Play Store on your Samsung phone to get started. After you log into the app, your health information is verified using secure authentication methods. Once verified, you can download the COVID-19 vaccination record that you received from a pharmacy, provider, or healthcare system. You can then add it to Samsung Pay with a simple touch of a button.

In the Samsung Pay app, tap on “COVID-19 vaccination record” to access the record. You will find a QR code to easily and securely share your vaccination card at locations if necessary. More and more concert halls, events – like next year’s CES – and shops require proof of vaccination for personal participation. It’s a quick and easy way to access and share all of the details you need.

This new Samsung Pay feature is rolling out on select phones today. Most Samsung smartphone owners will be able to set it up by the end of the week. Keep in mind that venues and organizers may have their own systems if the official “vaccine passport” requirements are not set in stone. So make sure you accept the Samsung Pay vaccination record before showing up for an event.
