You are mostly split about Nothing
OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei announced the name of his new startup last week and it is literally called Nothing. It’s certainly an unconventional name for a company, and we (me?) Played a lot of puns.
Is nothing a bad name? Or is Punny the same as money? We asked Android Authority Readers for their thoughts on the matter, and here is what you told us.
Do you think nothing is a good name or a bad name?
Results
We released the poll on January 27, 2021 and at the time of writing it had received a total of 1,005 votes. The results show that 55.2% of those surveyed didn’t think of anything as a good name. It’s certainly a departure from other names out there that are more secure, boring, and / or corporate.
44.8% of voters said nothing was a bad name for a company. It’s easy to see why a lot of people might also vote that way, as the name feels like a lame inside joke that got out of hand. At least the Boring Company is actually boring tunnels with boring machines.
We’re still waiting for Pei to unveil Nothing’s first products, but it is suggested that audio accessories such as headphones are in the pipeline. The executive also previously stated that the company was working on “multiple product categories”.
Who knows, maybe the name will grow with more people when the company introduces its first products?
