TL; DR

  • A new Xiaomi smartphone went through TENAA.
  • The device packs a 4K display and a 4,400 mAh battery in a slim case.

Xiaomi is apparently preparing for another phone launch, only this time the device in question offers some enthusiast specs. A phone with the model number 2109119BC recently opened TENAA (h / t GSMArena), which showcases its design and several key specifications.

Perhaps the most fascinating aspect is its display. The Xiaomi phone has a 6.55-inch OLED screen, which many of the company’s mid-range models are equipped with. However, the panel has a resolution of 3840 x 2160. This would be Xiaomi’s first smartphone with a 4K screen, joining the Sony Xperia 1 III in this particular category.

But is this Xiaomi phone a real flagship? Well, the rest of the specs are a little too vague to confirm. The Xiaomi mobile phone uses an octa-core chipset with a 2.4 GHz clock. This could be the Snapdragon 778G, a chipset we’ve seen in many of Xiaomi’s current mid-range smartphones, but it’s too early to say for sure. The phone also offers up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. In addition, a 64 MP primary camera joins two 8 MP shooters on the back.

Aesthetically, the design of the phone is reminiscent of the Xiaomi 10T Pro on the back, with an eye-catching camera ring around the main sensor. Interestingly, there is no visible cutout for the selfie camera at the front. The case of the phone is quite slim, similar to the recently introduced 11 Lite NE 5G. It weighs 166 grams with a length of 158 mm, a width of 71.5 mm and a thickness of almost 7 mm. This body also contains a 4,400 mAh battery.

Other notable specifications include an “iris recognition” sensor and a fingerprint sensor under the display. The device lacks a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a microSD card slot.

Xiaomi 4K smartphone: what could it be?

It’s not immediately clear where this phone fits into Xiaomi’s pecking order. The chipset suggests that it’s not suitable for other flagships, but the 4K display isn’t something we’ve seen on mid-range phones.

But what do you think of the phone? Do you like the spec list and would you buy a Xiaomi phone with a 4K screen? Vote in our poll above and let us know in the comments below.
