TL; DR

  • Xiaomi’s Mi 11 Ultra is on sale in India today.
  • However, this is a limited sale and required users to register beforehand.

Xiaomi officially launched the Mi 11 Ultra earlier this year and it is perhaps the most impressive smartphone the company has ever produced (at least in terms of specs). It was taking a long time, but today at noon (2:30 PM ET) the phone is finally on sale in India.

Unfortunately, the Indian sale today is a “limited quantity sale” and required users to register beforehand. The registration is now closed, so you will have to wait for the next sales date (TBA) to get your hands on the device. We asked Xiaomi how many units were available on that first launch, but the company declined to comment.

Those who successfully registered for the sale had to purchase a “gift card” for 1,999 rupees (~ $ 27), which was 1,999 rupees down from the price of 69,999 rupees (~ $ 936). The gift card also includes a few bonuses, such as two free screen replacements and a merchandise box.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is arguably the first superphone from the Chinese brand and has an IP68 rating, Snapdragon 888 SoC, 67 W wired / wireless charging and a 5,000 mAh battery. It also offers a high resolution triple rear view camera system with a 50 MP main camera, a 48 MP ultra wide sensor and a 48 MP periscope camera. Oddly enough, the camera body also houses a second rear display that allows you to take selfies and more with the rear gunner.

Our own Eric Zeman thought the phone was a good device in his Mi 11 Ultra test, but criticized the high price compared to competing devices from Samsung and OnePlus. Indian reviewer Dhruv Bhutani, meanwhile, said the Indian price of the phone is actually on par with the OnePlus 9 Pro and cheaper than the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Dhruv also felt that the phone managed to stand out in a crowded market.
