If you think 40-inch displays are just too small for your living room, Xiaomi may have a solution. The company has launched two 82-inch Mi Master series TVs in China.
The headliner television is nicknamed Extreme Commemorative Edition by Xiaomi’s. It has an 8K panel with mini LED technology that gives the display 960 light control zones on its surface. The technology enables higher contrast ratios and lower overall power consumption. Speaking of power consumption, this panel consumes up to 700W, so users will also have to budget a long power bill.
However, the Extreme Commemorative Edition also offers a refresh rate of 120 Hz with MEMC image smoothing technology (Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation), 98% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut and an integrated media player with a Novatek chipset with 4 GB RAM and 256 GB of storage. There is also 5G connectivity, a Gigabit LAN port and an HDMI 2.1 port.
The cheaper display offers 4K resolution with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and MEMC image smoothing technology. This should make it a nifty pairing with the Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5. HDMI 2.1 is also enabled while Dolby Vision is also supported. You also get a 93% color gamut in the DCI-P3 spectrum and a variety of Smart TV functions activated by Xiaomi’s MIUI for TV. It is powered by a MediaTek chipset with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage.
As you can probably imagine, an 82-inch 8K TV with 5G doesn’t come cheap. You can currently get one for 49,999 yuan (~ $ 7,327) in China. If pixels aren’t a priority, the cheaper 4K panel will set you back 9,999 yuan (~ $ 1,465).
