Xiaomi has been a leader in developing new charging technologies. The company has again reached a milestone in the charging area of the smartphone introduction the fastest wired 200W and wireless 120W store.
The company calls the new solution HyperCharge, just like its offshoot Black Shark calls its charging technology. Xiaomi claims that its 200W HyperCharge technology can charge a 4,000 mAh battery to 100% in just eight minutes. The new 120 W HyperCharge method only takes 15 minutes to fully charge a device.
Xiaomi has also released a video showing how HyperCharge works on a custom build of the Mi 11 Pro. Sure enough, the phone reaches 50% capacity in just three minutes and reaches 100% capacity in under eight minutes in a few seconds. The video also shows how the Mi 11 Pro is wirelessly charged at a speed of 120W, getting a 10% charge in just one minute and a 50% charge in seven minutes.
There’s no word on when Xiaomi will implement its new 200W and 120W HyperCharge wireless technology on actual phones. In theory, charging this quickly could generate more heat and cause the battery to deteriorate more quickly.
Xiaomi’s wired 120W charging made us concerned about high charging temperatures during our tests. We found it to be more suitable for a quick charge than a full charge. With a wired charge of 200W, the generation of excessive heat could be an even bigger problem. However, we will only know when and if we can see it in action.
