Xiaomi hints at Mi Mix 4, new tablet this year 1

  • Xiaomi has teased the arrival of a new Mi Mix and tablet this year.
  • Details of both models are not known.

Xiaomi’s Mi Mix series is perhaps the most innovative phone series to date, popularizing the high screen / body ratio trend with the original Mi Mix and introducing a slider design with the Mi Mix 3.

We haven’t seen a new Mi Mix model since 2019’s Mi Mix 3 5G, but Xiaomi has now hinted that a Mi Mix 4 (or whatever it’s called) is on the way for this year. Redmi General Manager and Xiaomi Executive Lu Weibing asked Weibo if users were looking forward to a Mi Mix. Check out the post below.

There’s clearly not much else to say, but Xiaomi recently teased the arrival of a new Mi Mix device this year as part of a promotion for CEO Lei Jun’s Fan Q&A session on Weibo. You can see the teaser picture below.

Anyway, it sounds like a Mi Mix 4 is coming out in 2021. There’s no word on specs, features, design, or pricing, but hopefully Xiaomi’s new phone isn’t heavily inspired by its recent concept portless phone with a quadruple curved waterfall display.

We could definitely see a new Mi Mix device with a selfie camera under the display, with Xiaomi demonstrating the technology back in 2019. It’s also worth noting that the series on the front of the selfie camera generally does something different anyway.

For example, Mi Mix and Mix 2 placed the selfie camera in the lower right corner of the screen and rendered the Nokia N9. Meanwhile, the Mi Mix 3 hid the selfie cameras behind a slider, while the Mi Mix Alpha concept dispensed with a selfie camera entirely in favor of using the main cameras and the rear display. So it stands to reason that with a new phone we won’t get a traditional cutout or notch.

This isn’t the only new technology that Xiaomi has been testing in the past few days, as Weibing has also asked Weibo users for suggestions about tablets. Check out the post below.

There’s not much to do here either, aside from the fact that we should expect a tablet in the future. The last tablet from Xiaomi was the Mi Pad 4 Plus from 2018, which runs on the Snapdragon 660 chipset and offers a powerful 8,620 mAh battery. Hopefully, each new tablet gives us a significant performance boost and high refresh rate while preserving the huge battery.
