TL; DR
- A recent ad created by Apple for Android-compatible Beats Studio Buds includes a Galaxy S21.
- Apple typically uses old, unattractive, or simply made-up competing phones in its ads.
- The quality of the display is important as Beats Studio Buds are essentially AirPods that work with Android phones.
But right now you can finally see an ad created by Apple on Amazon that features an up-to-date and attractive Android phone – the Samsung Galaxy S21. The ad image appears in the entry for Beats Studio Buds, Apple’s newest earbuds that work the same on Android and iOS (h / t Telephone arena).
This may seem trivial, but it’s a big deal. Apple usually only discusses or portrays competitors in a negative light. But here we have a picture of a pretty young woman enjoying her headphones on a great looking Android device. It’s almost like Android users can be stylish and modern too!
That decision makes a lot of sense though, given that Beats Studio Buds is priced at $ 150 – not exactly cheap. If Apple were to show these buds alongside the 2008 HTC Dream, it would surely look very silly.
We hope this means Apple will stop relying on inaccurate or unfair representations of Android in its ads!
