- Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus, has shed light on the situation of in-box chargers for the OnePlus 9 series.
- The executive announced that the new phones will actually carry a charger in the box.
When Apple first dropped the in-box charger with the iPhone 12, Android OEMs like Samsung and Xiaomi ridiculed the company for it. We all know what happened after that. Both Samsung and Xiaomi took the charger out of their respective flagship boxes. While the latter has still made the accessories optional, the South Korean brand seems to be adopting the no-charger approach for their phones. This begs the question: what is OnePlus going to do? Will it bundle a charger with the OnePlus 9 series of phones? Fortunately, we have an answer.
In response to a comment on an official forum post teasing the OnePlus 9 series, CEO Pete Lau has confirmed that the new phones do indeed come with a charger in the box.
OnePlus usually bundles a warp charger with its flagship phones. The OnePlus 8T comes with a 65W charging adapter, and the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro are also expected to be the same.
Given that OnePlus flagships are getting more expensive every year, it might be a relief for many to know that they won’t have to pay extra for a fast wired charger this time around.
The question is, do in-box chargers really make a big difference? Does this influence your decision to buy one of the new OnePlus flagships? Take our survey and let us know what you think in the comment section.
