Will it come to global markets though?

Xiaomi Mi A3

TL; DR

  • A new leak has apparently revealed specifications for the Xiaomi CC11 smartphone.
  • The leak suggests a mid-range offer with a relatively powerful SoC.
  • Earlier CC phones entered international markets as the Mi A series or Mi Note devices.

Xiaomi’s CC series was generally a design and selfie focused line of smartphones, but these devices are limited to China and we haven’t seen any new additions in over a year. Now leaks from China are suggesting the CC11 is slated for an upcoming launch.

Weibo tipster Bald Panda released obvious Xiaomi CC11 specs today, claiming that it is powered by a Snapdragon 778G chipset, 6.55-inch 90Hz OLED panel, and a 4200mAh 33W battery -Charging is equipped. The leaker also claims that you get a 64 MP triple rearview camera system and a 20 MP selfie snapper.

A TENAA listing discovered by MySmartPrice also suggests that the Xiaomi CC11 offers 6/8/12 GB of RAM, 128/256/512 GB of storage and microSD expansion.

The listing also appears to confirm some of the tipster’s disclosed specifications. More specifically, the submission shows a 2.4 GHz octa-core chipset (the same specs as the Snapdragon 778G), as well as a 64 MP main camera and a 20 MP selfie shooter.

The big question, however, is whether this phone will actually leave China, and this is where previous models come in. The Mi A3 with Android One is essentially the Mi CC9e with standard Android and a slightly larger screen, but otherwise with the same data sheet. In addition, the Mi CC9 Pro left China and became known as the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Pro in global markets.

In other words, there is a precedent for Xiaomi CC phones being launched in regions other than Mi Note devices or Mi A series phones. But we haven’t seen many Android One devices in the past two years, so we wouldn’t rely on the latter. It’s also possible that if Xiaomi actually brings the phone to wider markets, it will go under a different name.
