- WhatsApp has started to bring out a new memory management tool.
- The tool gives users suggestions on how to delete files and several other options.
Thanks to the frequent WhatsApp speaker, we heard about new storage management tools for WhatsApp for the first time back in June 2020 WABetaInfo. It took a while, but the Facebook team finally confirmed the official details.
The company announced that its revamped storage management tool will be distributed to users worldwide this week, replacing the old storage menu (Settings> Storage and data> Manage storage).
The new memory management menu offers deletion suggestions for large files (larger than 5 MB) as well as for files that have been forwarded multiple times. In addition, users can delete files in bulk and sort them by age or size. You will also get a visual breakdown of the total storage used by WhatsApp as well as the total storage remaining.
Fortunately, the previous option of being able to view and manage memory usage via chat is still intact here. So if you know that a certain group is responsible for most of your storage, this is a quick action to take.
It looks like the new storage management menu is just a server-side switch and not done via a WhatsApp update. We already got the functionality, so chances are it’s on its way to you if you haven’t got it already.
