TL; DR
- WhatsApp is working on a new feature designed to streamline voice messaging on the platform.
- The “Global Voice Message Player” would allow users to listen to voice messages anywhere in the app.
- This would make listening to lengthy WhatsApp voice memos a lot less of a hassle.
WhatsApp could soon introduce a feature to optimize the voice message listening experience while giving users more freedom.
The “global voice message player” first introduced by. has been discovered WABetaInfo, would allow users to listen to voice messages anywhere on WhatsApp. Currently, voice messages are only played through the sender’s chat screen. When you exit this screen, the message will stop playing.
WhatsApp Voice Message Player: How Would That Work?
The feature won’t seem to require any major redesign, but there will be a few UI tweaks. Judging from a screenshot taken from. was shared WABetaInfo, voice messages currently playing could have a dedicated top bar pinned to the top of the WhatsApp screen. In addition, this bar can contain basic controls, such as: B. pause, play and close. This bar would also be accessible from any screen in WhatsApp.

It seems like a small addition compared to multi-device support, but it could be a boon for those longer voice messages. Instead of being pinned to the sender’s page while listening to a ten-minute recording, users could participate in other activities within the app. It’s unclear whether WhatsApp would take this control a little further, allowing users to play voice messages in the background when they switch apps. There are currently no indications of this.
Although the feature is in development, don’t be too excited. WABetaInfo points out that the function for beta testers is not yet available. It has also been spotted on iOS, but an Android version is reportedly in the works as well. A release date is also not known.
