What’s your favorite material for the back of a smartphone?
Eric Zeman / Android Authority
It seems like almost every high-end smartphone on the market today is opting for a glass back, but it’s not the only material used on the back of phones.
Other materials used for the back cover include metal, plastic, Glasstic (a glass-like plastic developed by Samsung), ceramic, and vegan leather. But what’s your favorite? Let us know what you think about the survey below.
It must be said that all of these options have their strengths and weaknesses. Glass, for example, can cobweb and shatter, but allows cordless charging and water / dust resistance. Metal doesn’t play well with wireless charging, but is very drop-resistant. Plastic is one of the most versatile options on the list, offers water resistance and won’t crack like glass, but some feel like it doesn’t look and feel great.
Like the back of the Pixel 5? Well it has a metal back with a bio-resin (i.e. plastic) on it. So we recommend voting for plastic when the Google phone is near you.
