What is Disney Plus Day?
Disney Plus Day is a sweeping celebration of everything Disney related. New programs and specials will be launched at Disney brands such as ABC, Disney Channel, ESPN and ESPN Plus, Freeform, FX, Hulu, National Geographic in the US and on Disney-owned channels abroad.
Disney Plus Day also includes promotions, deals, photo opportunities, and other surprises in person. International Disney Parks and Resorts, Disney Cruise Line, and shopDisney.com will all be participating.
Cash: Everything you can see on Disney Plus
“The first Disney Plus Day will be a big celebration for our subscribers across the company,” said Bob Chapek, CEO of the Walt Disney Company. “This Day of Appreciation brings to life our mission to entertain, inform and inspire fans and families around the world through the power of unparalleled storytelling, and becomes an annual tentpole event that is spread across our global businesses. “
When and where can you watch?
Disney Plus Day is on November 12th.
The new program will be exclusive to Disney Plus on that date, so the main “event” will take place there.
In addition to streaming, visitors to Disney-owned attractions also get exclusive access to other Disney Plus Day events. But Disney has not specified what these events will entail. However, visitors to Disney Parks and Resorts around the world and the Disney Cruise Line, as well as customers shopping at shopDisney.com, can expect some offers and surprises.
What new content will be released on Disney Plus Day?
On the streaming side, Disney has confirmed some new programs and specials that will air exclusively on Disney Plus from November 12th.
Brand new titles
Disney will be releasing brand new content for several of its brands on Disney Plus during the celebrations on November 12th. These include the following:
- Home Sweet Home Alone, an original Disney Plus film and a reinterpretation of the Christmas franchise
- Olaf Presents, an original series of short films from Walt Disney Animation Studios, in which Frozen’s iconic snowman retells classic Disney stories in his own unique way
- The domestic Disney Plus streaming debuts of Walt Disney Animation Studios short films. These include Frozen Fever, Oscar-winning Feast and Paperman, the Oscar-nominated Mickey Mouse short Get A Horse! and more
- Ciao Alberto, an animated Pixar short film with characters from the feature film Luca
- A new The Simpsons short that pays tribute to the Disney Plus marquee brands
- The first five episodes of the second season of National Geographics The World based on Jeff Goldblum
- A special that focuses on the origins and legacy of Star Wars’ legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett, who will get his own Disney Plus show after appearing on The Mandalorian
- A special that celebrates the Disney Plus Marvel Cinematic Universe shows and looks to the future
Cinema releases switch to streaming
On Disney Plus Day, Jungle Cruise will be available to subscribers at no additional charge. In addition, Marvel’s Shang-Chi: The Legend of the Ten Rings will move to Disney Plus. In particular, Shang-Chi was only released in cinemas. This exclusive window of time likely helped it break all Labor Day weekend box office records despite the ongoing pandemic.
Disney Plus International
Disney will also launch its highly anticipated Hulu series Dopesick in international markets on Disney Plus Day.
The international overprint Disney Plus Star, which includes titles from Disney’s 20th Century Studios, FX, Hulu, ABC and more, will be home to the prestige drug overdose-based series starring Michael Keaton, Rosario Dawson, Peter Sarsgaard, Kaitlyn Dever, Will Poulter. his, and Michael Stuhlbarg.
Cash: The best original streaming shows
Disney Plus Day will also mark the Disney streamer’s expansion into South Korea and Taiwan. Just a few days later, on November 16, Disney Plus also launches in Hong Kong.
What else can we expect?
In addition to confirmed new content offerings, Disney promises that Disney Plus Day will “include breaking news, first looks, new trailers, exclusive clips and appearances from Disney + creators and stars.”
At Disney Investor Day last year, numerous projects for all Disney brands were announced. This included feature films as well as new series exclusively for Disney Plus.
Some projects were already announced, so we just got new trailers. This included a first look at Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. However, some projects were complete surprises, such as the Star Wars series Ahsoka and Rangers of the New Republic or a new FX series set in the alien universe.

It is unclear whether we will receive announcements of this magnitude on Disney Plus Day. But it would be a fitting time for Disney to reveal first glimpses of one of these new Star Wars shows. Or maybe tease details on the many upcoming Marvel series.
We’ll have to wait and see what Disney has in store on November 12th. But the House of the Mouse has safe money that wants to hang on to some big surprises.
