What do you use a single swipe down the home screen for?
Hadlee Simons / Android Authority
One of the most famous gestures on Android is simply swiping down from the top of the screen to reveal the notification shade and quick switch options. This has been copied by everyone from Apple and Microsoft over the years.
This gesture was followed by another similar gesture that lets you swipe anywhere on a home screen (not from the very top) to activate the device search function or the notification shade. But what do you use this gesture for? Do you even use it? Let us know by taking the survey below.
Many Android phone skins offer a device search function when you swipe down anywhere on the home screen. This allows you to search your device for specific apps, files, and more. Some skins even allow you to browse the web or use this menu to provide quick access to QR code scanning.
However, with some Android skins, you can change this behavior so that you can turn on the notification shade instead. This can be especially handy if you have a huge phone that is difficult to get all the way to the top. On Samsung phones, you can even swipe down on the home screen to reveal the app drawer.
If you swipe down anywhere on the home screen, which option do you prefer? Let us know via the poll above.
