Did you know Verizon has been selling an Android TV streaming box for a while? The carrier didn’t exactly advertise its Verizon Stream TV set extensively. However, today the version of the device of the second generation will be presented to the public.
The Verizon press release states that the new box has a slim body that can either be placed next to your big screen TV or on a wall. In fact, it comes with its own wall mount. The box supports video streaming with a resolution of up to 4K as well as HDR10 and HDR 10+ televisions. It also has Wi-Fi 6 hardware and dual band connectivity at 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz.
Since the box is based on Android TV, owners can get all streaming media apps that are supported by the operating system. The operator also has its own user interface that displays content from these services, including Netflix, Disney Plus, and more, on one screen. The box comes with a remote control that supports Google Assistant voice search and control. There’s even a remote finder if it falls under your sofa. While Verizon doesn’t have its own internet-based TV service like TVision recently launched by T-Mobile, it does allow Verizon customers to sign up for a similar YouTube TV and add the cost to their monthly Verizon bill.
When you sign up for Verizon Fios or 5G Home internet services, you get a streaming TV at no additional cost. For everyone else, it’s currently $ 69.99. People who own the first generation box will soon be receiving an update with the new Verizon user interface.
