American companies may be allowed to work with Huawei to set 5G standards under a new U.S. Department of Commerce rule Reuters. The rule would allow US companies to participate alongside the next generation network standards network controversial Chinese telecommunicationsand it will be finally reviewed in the department, the report says.
According to Reuters, it will still require approval from other authorities and could be involved in government bureaucracy, but it appears to be a shift after the Department of Commerce blacklisted Huawei after that of President Donald Trump Executive order from May 2019 that effectively banned the company from US communications networks.

The US did long claimed Huawei, a manufacturer of phones and network devices, maintains close ties with the Chinese government and fears that its devices could be used to spy on other countries and companies.
Neither the retail department nor Huawei immediately responded to requests for comments.
