A job ad indicates that Twitter is building a subscription platform.

Twitter is building a subscription platform under a new team, codenamed Gryphon. This is the result of a job advertisement for a high-ranking full-stack software developer, which was published on the social media website at the end of June.

“We’re building a subscription platform that other teams can reuse in the future. This is a first for Twitter!” according to the booking. “Gryphon is a team of web engineers who work closely with the Payments team and the Twitter.com team.”

The full-stack engineer would be based in New York and, according to the Post, lead payment and subscription customer work. It is unclear whether the subscription is for Twitter itself or for a new product.

However, this is only a job advertisement, not an announcement, according to a person familiar with the team. When an announcement comes, it won’t be buried on Twitter’s career page, they added.

The Gryphon team consists of employees in London, San Francisco, Boston and New York with different backgrounds outside of technology.

This is not the first time that the name Gryphon has appeared: Twitter published a contract position for a front-end software developer for the team about three months ago.

Many technology companies move into the service sector to increase sales. This approach has paid off for Apple: the Services division, which includes Apple TV Plus Streaming service and Apple Arcade Game service, was one of the fastest growing in the past few quarters.
