With all quarantined at homeYou may have a computer deficit. For example, Ms. Cheapskate needs remote access for the first time, but there is no additional machine that she can use. Sure, we could buy a new laptop, but I see another option: a mini PC.

Like this one: For a limited time and while stocks last, Amazon seller Shendda has it again BMAX Mini Computer for $ 189.99 with promo code 7NWE7ZHB. That’s $ 50 less than the regular price. Simply add your own monitor, mouse and keyboard and you’re ready to go.

Why that instead of a laptop? For starters, the obvious is: $ 190 is far less than you would pay for most laptops. The less obvious: ergonomics. Here you can connect a large monitor and a full-size keyboard for a more comfortable workstation. Hopefully you have some of this equipment lying around; If not, it is cheap to buy.

For example, Newegg currently has this 22-inch Acer R-series monitor for $ 100and here is a very good one Logitech wireless mouse-keyboard combination for $ 31.

The PC itself is not a powerhouse – do not plan to edit videos or play graphics-intensive games – but it is sufficient for everyday tasks from home. It has Windows 10, a 1.8 GHz Celeron processor, 8 GB RAM and a 128 GB solid state drive.

It also offers two speakers, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, two HDMI ports and a whopping five USB ports – including a USB-C. There is even a microSD card reader. Particularly cool: It can be screwed onto the back of a monitor with VESA mounting holes.

The BMAX has only about 15 user ratings, and Fakespot and ReviewMeta are again at odds. My advice: read it yourself. Identifying the real ones is pretty easy.

I’ve never owned a mini PC, but I can see the appeal. If you have experience with them, please share your thoughts in the comments!
