Asus Zenfone 6 updates

The Zenfone 6 was launched in May 2019 with Android Pie and equipped with Android 10 in November of this year (see further down the page). We expect the phone to receive another major update to the Android version as a result (namely Android 11).

Asus released one of the phone’s first major updates at the end of May (h / t: XDA) with the version number 16.1210.1904.115. This update provides improved speed and quality when taking Super Night or HDR + Enhanced photos. It also brought improved “camera rotation stability” so that you can use the smart key as a camera shutter button and rotate the flip camera with the volume buttons (you can also assign buttons to control the shutter button or zoom).

The next big update for the Zenfone 6 was the Android 10 update on November 4th, 2019. This update (17.1810.1910.63) was originally released in the US and India before spreading to other markets. Expect the usual Android 10 extras like advanced gesture navigation, Smart Reply features, and Google Play System update features (supposedly related to Project Mainline).

Asus started a limited beta program for Android 11 in August 2020 and gave hope that the stable update would actually be released in the coming months.
