We saw a lot of great phones in the first half of the year, like the Samsung Galaxy S21 series, Xiaomi’s Mi 11 series, and the OnePlus 9 family. However, many more devices are expected in the second half of 2021, from traditional flagships to more versatile phones.

Which phones are these? Android authority So are readers looking forward to the second half of the year? That is exactly what we asked in a survey last week. That’s how you voted.

Which phone are you most looking forward to in the second half of 2021?

Results

We released the poll on June 29th, giving readers 16 choices. But one line of phones turned out to be by far the most popular choice, with nearly 38% of readers choosing the Pixel 6 series. More specifically, comments suggest readers are curious about the camera experience, especially now that camera architect Marc Levoy has left the company. It doesn’t hurt that the early renders of the Pixel 6 series suggest that Google is offering a radically different design and triple cameras on the XL model.

The gap to second place is huge, the Galaxy S21 FE received 10.2% of the votes. The Galaxy S20 FE caused a sensation thanks to its lower price (while at the same time retaining the most important flagship functions), so there will be great consumer interest in a sequel. But we’ve seen a lot of rumors about the new phone, pointing to either a delay, limited release, or a switch to Exynos performance for some models.

The Google Pixel 5a followed just behind the S21 FE with 9.3% of the votes and took third place in our survey. And Apple’s iPhone 13 series was again just behind Google’s budget phone and received 8.7% of the vote.

It’s also interesting to note that foldables didn’t do well in this poll, with the rumored Vivo foldable bottoming out, accounting for just 0.4% of the vote. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 (1.8%), Pixel Fold (2.5%), Surface Duo 2 (3.8%) and Galaxy Z Fold 3 (5.9%) did not fall into the upper ranks either.

We also saw 110 votes for “other”, which is 6.7% of respondents. Comments point to phones like the Galaxy Note 21 (although it was canceled this year), the Galaxy XCover 5, new high-end devices from Motorola, and a phone from Nothing.

Remarks

  • George Callipolitis: @nothing phone
  • Jim Duarte: I still WANT my Galaxy Note 21 Ultra whether they want to make it or not !!! 🙂
  • Albin: Another one for Pixel 6 to see what the first camera after Levoy looks like. If it’s good, there could be a Pixel 7 or other future phone out there that could have a GCam installed on it. I want Moto to offer a mod compatible Z5 but no breath holding.
  • Michael Tillman: Pixel 6 definitely but also the Motorola Edge 2021 or whatever you will call it.
  • JK: Samsung Galaxy XCover 5
  • Joe Black: Pixel 6 for the camera, everything else is just a technical bump that hardly interests me anymore. Maybe Pixel Fold, BUT not because it would be interesting, it would mean that Google would finally have to add more functions to the Android core – even more robust resolution scaling, maybe even changing the resolution without “reloading”, more flexible multitasking … but these are functions that only people with foldables or Android desktops would benefit from.

That’s it for our latest article on survey results. Are there any other phones that you look forward to in the second half of the year? Let us know below.
