This is the iPhone 12 – ProWellTech
It took a little longer than usual (thanks COVID-19 for some insurmountable delays in manufacturing) but the iPhone 12 is here. And as expected, it comes with 5G. The latest version of Apples The smartphone is also available in a variety of sizes as the company continues to adapt to changing consumer purchasing patterns for mobile devices.
The inclusion of next-generation wireless is of course the flagship here. Apple is far from being the first company to offer 5G for a mobile phone, but is facing some bottleneck in adoption given the extremely strange year we have been through. According to the latest figures from Canalys, only 13% of cell phones shipped in the first half of the year were 5G-enabled. That said, there is still a long way to go, and Apple, finally adopting the technology, is sure to move the needle.
CEO Tim Cook kicked off the announcement by inviting Verizon (TC’s parent company) to take the stage to sell the UWB acquisition of the carrier’s technology and announce that it is “nationwide”. 5G will be available for all new models announced today. The special features of 5G vary depending on the location – here in the USA, for example, mmwave will also be available.
As expected, the line is being completely redesigned, borrowing hints from the iPad Pro, including a flat edge that is more in line with older devices than the newer curved models. The device is also 11% thinner and lighter than its predecessor. The redesign also allows the company to pack more antennas into the edge of the device.
There is a Corning glass display. Apple said it worked directly with Gorilla Glass maker to develop a ceramic sign that is reported to be about six times more reliable in drop tests. The smartphone has an OLED display (which also seems to be consistent on the new devices) with twice the number of pixels than the iPhone 11.
The handset is equipped with the previously announced A14 Bionic chip. Apple’s silicon has six cores on its CPU and four on its GPU. The latter will help expand its position in mobile gaming. The company took this opportunity to announce that it will be launching the League of Legends: Wild Rift from Riot Games.
