The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE was one of the most popular flagship devices launched last year, and for good reason. They managed to be great value for money while also offering premium features like a telecamera, water resistance and wireless charging.
All eyes are on the Galaxy S21 FE, which continues this affordable flagship trend for Samsung, and a new rumor has it that the phone is even cheaper than its predecessor. Finding a cheaper price tag usually comes with a compromise or two, so we figure out what you’d give up for a cheaper S21 FE.
Which feature would you do without in a cheaper Galaxy S21 FE?
Results
We released the poll on Monday June 7th, which received over 2,300 votes at the time of writing. And the results show that almost 40% of those surveyed are willing to forego wireless charging in exchange for a cheaper Galaxy S21 FE. This was the single largest poll in the poll, but we hope Samsung offers faster wired charging should it ever go without wireless charging.
The included charger and accessories were the second most popular feature to be deleted. 14.4% of surveyed readers said they would leave out these goodies if it resulted in a cheaper price. Closely followed by 5G (14.1%), which is understandable if the S20 FE had a 4G variant, while 5G below 6 GHz isn’t a groundbreaking improvement over LTE.
Cheaper / less versatile cameras (12%), water resistance (10%), the latest and greatest flagship SoC (8%) and “other” (2%) rounded out the results.
Remarks
- Wongwatt: I would like to give up all supposed value-adding firmware optimizations from Samsung and use Android One. Because I hate Samsung bloat.
- Hussain Almubarak: Why only stop at ONE feature? I would be willing to forego 5G – As it is not available in most areas here in New Zealand, water resistance because I don’t immerse my phone in water, ceramic or glass because the day I get my phone it is will go in a case and no one will tell the difference whether it has a plastic or ceramic case, wireless charging, because at the end of the day I still have to put the phone on a charger, why not just plug it in? I don’t mind if I don’t get the latest SoC because I won’t be using the phone to play games that require a separate graphics card (just some Candy Crush).
- tarfin: For me, I would do without the high-end camera. The one in my A71 5G is doing very well and if I needed more professional options, a DSLR would make more sense.
