You might not have to spend Galaxy Note cash if your looking for a pen and 5G phone. Motorola has unveiled the Moto G Stylus 5G, an affordable Android phone that offers both benefits – with a few caveats.
The highlight, as you can imagine, is a 6.8-inch FHD + pen-size display (i.e. 1080p) paired with next-generation wireless technology. You can sketch a scene on your Moto G Stylus 5G and quickly share it on social networks. You will also find a large 5,000 mAh battery, up to 256 GB of expandable storage and a quad rear camera array with a 48 MP quad pixel main sensor, an 8 MP ultra wide, a 5 MP macro and a 2 MP depth sensor. A 16-megapixel front camera takes care of selfies.

However, this is not a powerhouse. The new Moto G Stylus comes with a humble Snapdragon 480 chip, and you get either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. There’s also no IP rating for water resistance (it’s just “water repellent”) or NFC, and you’ll have to settle for a 10W charger. You’re buying this for 5G and the pen and not much more.
An unlocked version of the Moto G Stylus 5G will be available on June 14th through Amazon, Best Buy, B&H Photo, Motorola and Walmart for $ 399.99. Pre-orders start today. It will later come to AT&T, Cricket, T-Mobile, Metro, Boost Mobile, Spectrum Mobile and Xfinity Mobile.
This price makes the Moto G Stylus 5G more of a special device than a strong all-rounder. Pay $ 50 less and get a Google Pixel 4a that should have a faster chip and take better photos, albeit without a pen or faster cell data. And if you’re open to other platforms, Apple’s iPhone SE offers a much faster processor for the same amount of effort. However, if a pen is a must, you probably won’t find many affordable alternatives.
