The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is still worth buying a year later
Hadlee Simons / Android Authority
The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is the latest Note device to hit the market as the Korean manufacturer skipped a Note release in 2021. Instead, Samsung decided to bring S Pen support to the Galaxy S21 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 3.
We put the Note 20 Ultra through a long-term test to find out how it had aged for a year, and we also asked readers whether the purchase was worth it at the time. This is how you voted in this poll.
Should you still buy the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra a year later?
Results
We published the poll in our Galaxy Note 20 Ultra long-term test on September 4th and so far we have collected a little more than 1,700 votes. The result? Well, almost 88% of those polled said the latest Galaxy Note is definitely worth it a year later.
Comments supporting this choice point out features like MST payment support, storage expansion, the dedicated S Pen slot, and great cameras. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S21 Ultra is missing the first three features.

On the other hand, 12% of the readers surveyed say that the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is no longer worth buying a year later. There aren’t many comments in support of this option, but at least one of them suggests that the Exynos version is a no-go.
We also mentioned in our long-term test that the S21 Ultra offers a faster chipset, two telecameras for improved zoom performance, a larger battery and 120 Hz with QHD + support. So these could be reasons to miss the Note 20 Ultra as well.
Comments
- ntrophy: One pretty important thing that you forgot to mention is that the Note 20 will be the last Samsung phone to support MST payment technology that allows you to use the phone with any payment terminal, regardless of whether it is Google Pay may or may not support it by mimicking a magnetic stripe card transaction.
- Angela Romain: I consistently use it for my hiking and other videos when I don’t have to zoom in too much as the stabilization function is great. I finally figured out how to use the yellow box for better focusing; Especially with Zoom, I’m happy with that. With my Pany ZS 70, which I normally use, I usually have to stabilize the videos using Filmmora. I also like the expandable memory, and having this pen is a huge plus. I pretty much agree with this article of the review a year later, the pros and cons. The question I always ask myself when I think about a product, would I buy it again…. Yes!
- Tony’s Texas Hots: I got one last year when it was released. It’s still an excellent phone. I use the S-Pen all the time, hate companies walking away from expandable storage, and have big hands. It’s the perfect phone for me! Is it for everyone? Definitely not. But a year later, I would argue that it is still one of the absolute best phones to buy and worth considering.
- Yaddy: If I keep my Ultra 20 it’s a great phone with a pen, I love it and the picture quality is great for video calling …
