The FCC just spilled more details about the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2
Evidence uncovered in March suggested Samsung was working on a new pair of Galaxy Buds. A new FCC listing appears to confirm the existence of these buds, tentatively referred to as the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2, and some of their details. Speckled by Everything about SamsungSee the listing for more information on SM-R177 – the suspected model number that will be used by the next few Buds.
Let’s start with the specifications. The listing suggests that the new Buds may come in a rounded square case similar to the Galaxy Buds Pro. This should mean the next generation of earbuds will take up less space in your pocket. According to the approval label, the case also has a USB-C port with a charging power of 2.5 W. The Buds are designed for a charge of 0.6 W.
Images of the earbuds themselves are also exposed. The Galaxy Buds 2 will appear to have a similar design to the Pro model, including the removable silicone tips. Gold charging pins are also in a Pro-like position just below the tip. The Buds 2 are approx. 25 mm deep from the silicone tip to the outside of the body.
What else do we know about the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2?
No other specifications are included in the list. However, previous reports pointed to active noise cancellation and multiple device connectivity via Bluetooth.
It is currently unclear whether these earbuds will directly replace the Galaxy Buds Pro or the original Galaxy Buds. The former started in January. It’s more likely that the upcoming model will replace Samsung’s original Buds. There is too little evidence right now to call it either way.
While Samsung doesn’t give a clear start date, devices usually wander right before they are revealed by the FCC. In this case, the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 could make a debut as early as July alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the next Galaxy Z Flip.
