Earin is often overlooked when talking about the best true wireless earbuds, but the company has been around since the real wireless madness began. Regardless of CES 2021, the company announced the true Earin A-3 wireless earbuds. These tiny earbuds are packed with nifty features and feature a thoughtful design.
The A-3 earbuds differ from the flood of real wireless competitors, as does the case. The case is a small capsule with a flat lid that opens magnetically and clicks into place. It is made entirely of aluminum, apart from a plastic cutout on the back that allows wireless charging. If you don’t have a wireless charger, you can plug in any standard USB-C charging case.
It comes in a sleek silver or anodized black, both of which look pretty minimal and discreet.
Each earbud has a touch sensor on the outside and inward-facing proximity sensors that automatically pause the music when you remove an earbud from your ear. They’re also IP52 waterproof and dustproof, so you can take them to the gym if you want. Just try not to go swimming as they are not waterproof.
The Earin A-3 supports a number of Bluetooth codecs including SBC, AAC, aptX and aptX with low latency. These are rocking Bluetooth 5.0, which means the buds will use up energy for long battery life. The earbuds can last up to five hours on a single charge, and the case adds another 30 hours.
Each earbud has a 14.3mm internal driver, and Earin claims these are the best sounding earbuds they’ve made despite being small in size. However, they have an open design. In practical terms, this means that in addition to your music, you will also hear what is going on around you. If you want to stay aware of your surroundings during a bike ride or run, this can be a good thing. However, if you’d rather block the world, there are better ways.
Earin is releasing a limited founding edition of the A-3 True Wireless Earbuds on January 14th via Kickstarter. The Earin A-3 will be available in larger quantities later in the first quarter and will retail for $ 199.
