With the number of new coronavirus cases increasing and the White House coronavirus task force meeting again after an almost two-month hiatus, U.S. disease control centers have their list of signs that a person has COVID-19 disease could be expanded to include new symptoms.
“People with COVID-19 A wide range of symptoms have been reported, “the CDC reports,” ranging from mild symptoms to serious illnesses. Symptoms can appear 2 to 14 days after exposure to the virus. ”
The CDC added constipation or a runny nose to the list of 11 symptoms that could indicate someone has COVID-19:
- Constipation or runny nose
- to cough
- diarrhea
- Fatigue
- Fever or chills
- a headache
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Muscle or body pain
- Nausea or vomiting
- New taste or smell loss
- Sore throat
The CDC warns that someone should show one of these signs to see an emergency doctor immediately:
- Difficulty breathing
- Persistent pain or chest pressure
- New confusion
- Inability to wake up or stay awake
- Bluish lips or face
The expanded list reflects the growing understanding of the federal government and health authorities for the virus.
“In all the decades I have been involved in the hunt for infectious diseases, I have never seen anything so protean in its ability to make people sick or not,” said Dr. Anthony Fauci, head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases during the Task Force briefing on June 26. “There is no other infectious disease in which 40% of people have no symptoms, some have mild symptoms, and others have severe ones.”
