The best prepared meal delivery services in 2020: Home Chef, Freshly, Daily Harvest and more

For the latest corona virus pandemic news and information, visit the WHO website.

The Corona virus The pandemic has led to an increase in the use of grocery services as people offer protection and practice social distancing. I started researching this list of the best meal sets before COVID-19, and am pleased to present it to you now in the hope that getting healthy meals and ingredients in a meal set delivery will be a bit of a stress at this very stressful time will degrade.

Before we dive into the list, we answer a few questions. First, how do these differ from ours Favorite meal kits? While the food set revolution – which led to well-known names like Blue Apron and Hello Fresh – was about giving you the basic ingredients and instructions on how to put it all together into a delicious meal, we no longer rely on you or patience for it. Pandemics are tiring, and to be honest, making a meal plan, going through the process of preparing the food, and then cooking, is really only fun if you have the time to develop your recipes. Go to the grocery store to buy your own ingredients and otherwise flex your chef’s muscles. For this reason, these oven-ready meal sets and ready meals have turned out to be a turnkey solution if you need quick, easy and delicious meals on the menu, but your budget to go is tight. Newer services like Veestro and Fresh have taken note of modern healthy eating habits and there are prepared menus that are tailored to every nutritional preference, including carnivores, vegetarians, vegans and others who eat a plant-based diet and those who adhere to a Keto, Paleo, organic, low-sugar or low-calorie diet. Regardless of your dietary restrictions, there is basically a meal set service for you.

While most of the services we have sorted are ready meals – that is, prepared, pre-cooked, and with ingredients ready to come in the oven or in a hot pan heated – Services like Chef and Devour are not cooked yet. These “oven-ready” meal delivery plans, somewhere between a classic meal set and meal delivery, are uncooked but pre-assembled to be thrown together and baked, grilled, or fried without the need for extensive preparation. In short: please do not eat raw chicken. You don’t need food poisoning in addition to everything else that’s going on!

Most of these companies ship their pre-portioned and pre-cooked meals frozen or partially frozen. Since they arrive in shipments of four or more people, most meals are designed to be placed directly in the freezer so that you can thaw and eat them over the course of the week or longer. Even if you don’t plan to eat them every day or even every week, having a dish or two or even emergency snacks in the freezer can help when you need them or when you just don’t have them in yourself to even boil water for pasta. And let’s not even start what a supply means for our peace of mind.

Although I was unable to try every meal from each of the listed food sets and delivery services, I was able to try at least one meal from each meal. As you will read, some of these meal delivery services and meal sets focus on a specific concept. The chef, for example, has everything from simple food sets to science with fresh ingredients and recipes that are already prepared and ready in just 15 or 20 minutes. Others, like Veestro, specialize in pre-made or prepared vegetarian and vegan meals for those who are meatless or dairy-free in 2020 but are still looking for an alternative to cooking. Seriously, people on special diets need to review their meal delivery program options – there is sure to be one for them.

There’s still nothing better than a home-made meal, but some of these simple and affordable options from a food supplier might be just the thing to relieve your burden in the challenging times we’re currently living in. And perhaps most importantly, they don’t need a trip to the grocery store.

I will endeavor to keep this list up to date, but please check each service to ensure that it works normally and with reasonable delivery times before placing an order. I would like to continue to encourage you to do so Support your local restaurants If you are looking for ready meals by ordering to go if you can as so many restaurants have big problems.

Chef

Home Chef is a popular meal set company and has recently launched a number of oven-ready dishes such as Cajun Chicken with Rice and Beans that are supposed to do almost all of the dinner work, but still technically deliver homemade food.

When it is ready for the oven, you want to choose Home Chef is fresh and simple Meals that focus on simple, oven-ready options. There are also summer grills and 15-minute starter salads for those looking for lighter dishes or slow-cooker meals that also require minimal preparation and cleaning. This new category of Home Chef is geared towards low technical skills and a great option if you want to be home-made but aren’t interested in signing up to a culinary institute to accomplish this.

Pricing: No matter how you cut it, Home Chef breaks down to just under $ 10 per serving. Most people choose six to eight meals a week, so the average cost is around $ 70. However, you can only choose six servings and up to 12 and save a little more with a larger order.

Daily harvest

Daily Harvest started in 2015 with an army of frozen and ready-to-mix smoothies, pre-made soups, and hearty grain shells to store in the freezer. Some of the bowls and soups could Pass as dinner, but I like it best for an uncomplicated lunch or breakfast. Depending on the offer, either drop it in a pot or pan to heat and eat it. Or add nut milk and mix as with the protein-rich smoothies, oat shells or lattes.

This is a great herbal food delivery service if you want to simplify your week and keep a healthy eating plan. Daily Harvest uses many old grains, oats and superfoods in her recipes, all of which are mostly satisfactory and balanced in taste.

Pricing: With so many different offers and options, you can really choose what you want, but soups, smoothies, and chia bowls are available for just $ 5.99 a serving if you order a subscription and in bulk.

Veestro

Veestro offers a wide selection of 100% prepared vegetable dishes for those who are vegan or vegetarian. Veestro’s offerings include dishes such as tofu with red curry sauce, carrot osso buco and fried chick’n. Veestro uses more meat alternatives than a purple carrot in meals. So if you like seitan, tempeh, and other artificial meat, this is a good food delivery service.

The carnivore in me has to admit that the vegetable meals I’ve tried from Veestro were just as satisfactory as the food I’m used to. I would recommend this to anyone trying to reduce meat but not becoming fully vegetarian as much of the food mimics a carnivore diet and ensures a smooth landing.

Pricing: Veestro costs around $ 11.70 per meal for ten meals, although it is more expensive for a one-time order. However, it will be cheaper if you choose a 20-meal plan ($ 10.80 per meal).

Freshology

You may have guessed the name, but this healthy meal delivery service doesn’t specialize in creamy mashed potatoes, or mac and cheese. Depending on your nutritional goals, you can focus on specific menus such as vegetarian, low-carb or keto meals, or help treat diabetes. All information on nutrition and calories will help you achieve these diet goals. The Freshology operated by Diet-to-Go is designed to help customers stay on the right track all day and offers a full range of breakfast, lunch and dinner options.

There’s less emphasis on delivering haute cuisine than hearty meals with good protein, and you’ll find plenty of lean meats, whole grains, and green vegetables without pomp and fuss.

Pricing: Customizable meal plans start at $ 9.99 per meal. You can have up to three meals delivered per day if you have Really just don’t want to cook je.

Home bistro

The Home Bistro is definitely the most expensive food delivery service on the list, but that’s because meals are sure to be of a higher caliber. You will find a little less grilled chicken breast or simple pasta dishes, but somewhat more complicated proteins such as Chianti braised ribs, Peri-Peri pork fillets and grilled pomegranate salmon with a home bistro.

Although it is More expensive – comparable to take away – if you eat a lot of meat but don’t have many great ready meals or delivery options near you, this is a good food delivery service you should try. And since you can order these ready meals à la carte, you can keep them for special occasions at any time.

Pricing: Single meals cost between $ 19 and $ 27. You can order home bistro meals à la carte or packages of 7, 10 or 20 meals that are delivered weekly or bi-weekly.

Devour

It is not devouring either technically Ready meals, but since many of the dinners only take 15 minutes to cook, it might as well be. The Gobble team does all the prep work – chopping, dicing, measuring – so you can blow straight into a cacio e pepe with shrimp and asparagus or loin steak with mashed potatoes. Gobble is another great option for meal delivery if your goal is to prepare freshly cooked food with very little effort.

Pricing: Gobble meal sets start at $ 11.99 per serving, but you can try your first six meals for just $ 36 as a one-time offer.

Fresh

Fresh delivers pre-cooked meals (fresh, not frozen) to your door. Though they have plenty of healthy options, Freshly is one of the better options if you want to occasionally deliver fraudulent meals or comfort foods to your door (yes, please!). Penne Bolognese, peppercorn steak with mashed potatoes and chicken casserole are just a few of the heartier options you can have on hand. But there are also healthier, low-calorie options to be honest.

Forgive the pun, but Freshly had some of the freshest meals, probably because they didn’t arrive pre-frozen. Not everything felt like restaurant quality, but overall, this company has many crowd pullers, including chicken tikka masala, macaroni, and chili-topped cheese.

Pricing: The more you order, the more you save with Freshly and the difference is significant. Four meals a week cost $ 11.50 per meal, up to $ 12, and the price per meal drops to $ 7.99.
