The best places to land in Fortnite
To help with deciding where to start out each match, we have the best places to land in Fortnite right now, at the time of chapter 2, season 7. This season features major changes to the beloved Fortnite map and has many NPCs scattered around to give you quests, along with the inclusion of aliens. The map itself hasn’t changed too substantially, but there are numerous points of interest you’ll want to keep your eyes peeled for during this season.
The points of interest change up the game considerably, including the best places to land. Picking where to land is difficult, as a number of factors come into play. When deciding on the best locations at this time, we took into account the amount of loot, how many players tend to land there, its physical location, and general popularity.
Whether you are someone who likes to fight all the time or just hide away until most of the players are already gone, we have a starting location for you so that you can start out on the right foot in each match.
Satellite stations
Among major new additions are the satellite stations scattered around the map. These are structures that are home to a number of things, including basic loot, metal, IO guards, and IO chests. While the loot and materials are worth picking up, the main reason you should stop by these spots is for the gear you get from IO chests. These typically provide much more valuable loot than what you’d get in a typical chest. Once you’ve got your gear, you can utilize one of the nearby launch pads at each satellite location to migrate to a different area, depending on the zone. Pick a satellite station that suits your playstyle. For instance, if you’re an aggressive player, you shouldn’t have trouble visiting the station at Corny east of Weeping Woods.
Mountain south of Catty Corner
This landing spot is meant for those who like to stay out of the way while gathering lots of building materials and loot. Land at the top of the mountain by the ice cream truck and loot everything in your path. You’ll find weapons, armor, ammo, and other gear to help you survive. Then, make your way down to the wood cabin to the east. Here, you can get stocked up on wood and even more gear. Then, keep heading east toward the C-shaped beach to gather stone and even more loot. The one thing to keep in mind is that you should pay attention to the storm, as it’s super easy to get trapped out there while you search for supplies.
Corny Complex … all of it
Another new addition this season is Corny Complex, which replaces Colossal Crops. This is a high-risk/high-reward area that will likely be busy regardless of the path of the Battle Bus at the start. The great thing about this area, aside from the sheer number of buildings there are, is the fact that the barn in the middle has an underground bunker with even more gear to gather. After you’ve looted up, it should be no problem to make your way to the next zone since Corny Complex is close to the center. But be careful, as other teams might have the same idea.
Beach house to the west
The beach house on the west side of the map, just southwest of Believer Beach, gives you the best of both worlds. Not only is it out of the way enough to allow you to gather all the loot for yourself, but it also includes a sports car in the garage that you can use to get out safely. Close to the car will always be an off-road mod, so use that to upgrade your vehicle before you make your escape. We also recommend looting the entire house because there’s a lot of useful gear to be found. And once you hop in the car, drive north on the road right next to the house, and you’ll come to a Slurp truck, which you can strike to acquire full shields.
Island southeast of Misty Meadows
For the more passive players, we recommend landing on the island southeast of Misty Meadows. This spot will almost never be contested, and while the loot here isn’t the best, it is home to a flying saucer, which can be key in winning the match. Make sure you visit every building on the island, and when you’re all looted up, hop in the flying saucer to wreak havoc on your enemies. In fact, you can use the aircraft to quickly travel to other areas to continue racking up your arsenal while focusing on upgrades for the late game. The point is that you’ll be less likely to go down due to the storm if you have a flying saucer to get around in.
Spire north of Retail Row
The Spires have been around since season 6, but with the launch of season 7, they have been greatly improved to include better loot. Any of the Spires are worth visiting, and if you’re lucky, you’ll find multiple chests on top. The one we like to visit frequently is located just north of Retail Row. The main reason for this (aside from it being just out of the way enough while still remaining somewhat close to the center) is thanks to the numerous buildings below the Spire. Once you’ve looted up at the top of the Spire, use the launch pad to easily fly down to the buildings below, giving you even more opportunities to collect loot while sticking close to the next zone.
Bridge southeast of Corny Complex
This landing spot is close to our previous recommendation of Corny Complex but has a different purpose. For this area, you’ll want to land here to gather lots of building materials, which come in handy, especially toward the end of a match. Along the bridge are many chests and opportunities to find loot — just make sure you’re mining everything in your path to collect valuable resources. Then, once you’re finished, make your way west toward the center of the map, and you’ll come across Dusted Depot, which is right next to the large purple area. Here, you’ll be able to use an upgrade station to improve your weapons, which will help you get one step closer to a win.
