The best E3 2021 game trailers and announcements

Elden Ring E3 2021 game announcement press picture

E3 2021 is finally in full swing. This year’s edition is completely digital, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t full of exciting new game trailers and hardware. Plus, we can all enjoy the show from the comfort of our own home.

While the biggest events are yet to come, we’ve already seen some great game announcements at E3 2021 for titles coming out in the near future. We have a lot of players on the team here Android authority, so we’ve picked our previous favorites and listed them below.

We’ll also update the list as more games are announced in the coming week, so stay tuned!

Elden ring

Okay, technically Elden Ring was first revealed at E3 2019, but the new game trailer above has so much more to it that we’d be remiss not to include it. Announced as a collaboration between Hidetaka Miyazaki (Dark Souls) and George RR Martin (Game of Thrones), it should be one of the biggest releases of 2022.

Right, we finally have a release date and you don’t have to wait long. The release is currently planned for January 21, 2022 for PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S.

Judging by the trailer, it looks like it’s delivering on all fronts. It doesn’t seem as “dark” as the Dark Souls franchise, but it still has some really terrifying character and boss designs. It’s also an open world and full of secrets to explore, but with no towns full of villagers to quests on. Instead, it’s all about high-difficulty dungeons and big, bad bosses.

Metal snail tactics

The Metal Slug series pretty much perfected the side scrolling run & gun genre, but now it’s time for Marco, Eri, Fio and Tarma to tackle a whole new genre. Metal Slug Tactics is an isometric tactics-style turn-based RPG that attempts to adapt the over-the-top action of Metal Slug to slower (but still over-the-top) gameplay.

We don’t know too much about the title beyond the E3 2021 trailer above, but the Steam site mentions roguelike elements and procedurally generated level designs, so there should be plenty of replayability.

There’s no release date listed yet, and it’s only coming for PC for now.

Tiny Tina’s wonderland

A big surprise game announcement for E3 2021 was Tiny Tinas Wonderlands. Essentially a spin-off of the Borderlands franchise, it builds on the Borderlands 2 expansion Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep. In it you fight dragons, goblins and other fantasy creatures with the same weapons and the same raider shooter gameplay that you are used to from other titles in the series.

And make no mistake, this is a fully fledged AAA game. It has a full campaign, co-op, and even some endgame content to work through. The game also features the same great talent line-up with Ashly Burch, Andy Samberg, Wanda Sykes and Will Arnett repeating their roles.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will be available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S in early 2022.

Battlefield 2042

EA skipped the E3 2021 cannon with the announcement of Battlefield 2042, but you won’t have to wait long to find out more. The trailer itself is a teaser for a gameplay reveal event on June 13th, so stay tuned this weekend.

The game will feature new dynamic environments, new vehicles, and new levels of carnage. There’s something about a refugee crisis and US-Russia war going on in the background, but there’s no single player or campaign mode so you can safely ignore that and focus on the incredible 128-man battles.

Battlefield 2042 will be released on October 22, 2021 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S. However, huge maps and 128-man battles will be exclusive to next-gen consoles, while other platforms will focus on the standard 64-man battle sizes.

Two point campus

Two Point Hospital management simulation fans will be delighted to learn that the same studio is back with a college-style spin-off. As the name suggests, Two Point Campus puts you in charge of the design and operation of a college university.

This time you can go into nature and design the entire campus from hedges and paths to lecture halls and restaurants. There is a lot to do and your choices will affect the lives of all enrolled students and staff.

Two Point Campus will be coming to PC and all consoles sometime in 2022.
