The Batman movie getting HBO Max spinoff series set in Gotham PD
The Batman feature film It’s not planned to hit theaters by 2021, but on Friday, HBO Max announced plans for an original series based on the film’s universe. The yet untitled show by Matt Reeves, the director of The Batman, takes place in the police department of Gotham City and is written by Terence Winter, the inventor of the Boardwalk Empire.
“This is an amazing opportunity not only to broaden the vision of the world that I create in the film, but to explore it in depth and detail that only a long format can afford – and to work with the incredible Talented Terence Winter, who has written so insightfully and powerfully on worlds of crime and corruption, is an absolute dream, “said Reeves in a statement.
The Batman film plays Robert Pattinson as the title character, although it is not known whether it will appear in the HBO Max series. The release of this film was delayed from June to October 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Not much is known about the film, but in February Reeves a Video shows Pattinson in costume, and the new Batmobile. Photos leaked by fans show the batcycle.
“This is Batman like most viewers have never seen before, and we know that fans want to spend more time in this new world inspired by the movie,” said Kevin Reilly, HBO Max’s chief content officer.
No casting information was available and a possible release date was not disclosed.
