The 25 best iPhone 14 cases to keep your new phone safe and stylish

Apple Event 2022 iphone 14 colors

The iPhone 14 is finally here! It might feature many of the same specs and features as the iPhone 13, but if you do decide to pick one up, you’ll want to keep it safe and sound for as long as possible. To help, we’ve picked out the best iPhone 14 cases you can currently buy, from thin and light cases to rugged and wallet models. And of course, most of them are completely MagSafe compatible.

Best standard iPhone 14 cases

Caseology Parallax Mag

Caseology Parallax Mag iPhone 14 case
  • Unique hexa-cube texture
  • Three colorways
  • MagSafe compatible
  • Military-grade protection
  • Affordable

Caseology makes great cases with a stylish finish, and its Parallax model is one of our perennial favorites. The 3D hexa-cube texture on the back provides affords the case both a unique look and a convenient level of grip to prevent slips and falls. It’s also MIL-STD 810G certified for exceptional protection, and it comes in three attractive colors. Combined with an integrated MagSafe magnet, wireless charging compatibility, and an affordable price tag, this case really does have it all.

Spigen Liquid Air Armor

Spigen Liquid Air Armor iPhone 14 case
  • Excellent grip
  • Military-grade protection
  • Thin and light
  • Very affordable
  • Only comes in black
  • Not MagSafe compatible

Spigen is another leading case brand, and one of our favorites in its extensive lineup is the Liquid Air Armor. The textured, rubberized backing feels great in the hand, and makes the phone virtually impossible to drop. It’s also easy to slip on and off. However, it’s a relatively simple case, and it doesn’t feature built-in MagSafe magnets. For that, you’ll have to swing for the Rugged Armor, which has a slightly different design. Both options, like many Spigen cases, only come in black.

UAG Metropolis LT

UAG Metropolis LT MagSafe iPhone 14 case
  • Attractive rugged design
  • Military-grade protection
  • Relatively light
  • Built-in MagSafe magnet
  • Only comes in black

Urban Armor Gear is mostly known for rugged cases, but the Metropolis LT really caught our eye. The design is still rugged, but adds a level of sophistication that’s hard to appreciate in pictures. The outside of the case is coated with Kevlar, giving it military-grade protection. Despite this, it’s still slim and light, with built-in magnets for MagSafe accessories. If you like this design but want a bit more utility, there’s also a folio-style case with space to hold three cards or cash.

Otterbox Commuter Series

Otterbox Commuter iPhone 14 case
  • Exceptional protection
  • Dust covers for ports
  • Slightly bulky, but pocketable
  • No built-in magnets
  • Comes in four colors
  • A bit pricey

Otterbox is another rugged case brand, but its Commuter Series brings that protection down into a relatively slim package. I still wouldn’t call it a thin case, but it’s much less bulky than most of the company’s cases, while still providing trademark protection like dust covers and durability that exceeds military-grade standards. The company claims it works with MagSafe accessories, but without any integrated magnets the connection is pretty weak. Still, it’s a great case for most people, and it comes in four different color combinations.

Caseology Nano Pop

Caseology Nano Pop Mag iPhone 14 case
  • Bold two-tone design
  • Smooth silicone finish
  • Optional MagSafe magnets
  • Affordable
  • Three colorways

Yet another stylish case from Caseology, the Nano Pop drops the textured back for a contrasting two-tone design. The silicone finish on the exterior feels great, too, and it still offers military-grade protection from drops and tumbles. There are two models of this case: one with a MagSafe magnet array and one without. The version without the array does come with two tempered glass screen protectors to sweeten the deal. There are three colorways available: Blueberry Navy, Burgundy Bean, and Grape Purple.

Moment case

Moment iPhone 14 case
  • Understated design
  • Works with Moment lenses and mounts
  • Built-in magnet array
  • 6-foot drop protection
  • Hole for wrist strap

Moment is best known for its smartphone camera lenses, but it also makes an excellent case that’s worth getting in its own right. It’s thin and relatively protective, with a subtle design that comes in two colors. It also has a built-in magnet array for MagSafe accessories and Moment’s own ecosystem of mounts. But the real selling point is access to the company’s lenses, which snap onto the case to provide interesting new photographic possibilities.

Best thin iPhone 14 cases

Totallee thin case

Totallee thin iPhone 14 case
  • Incredibly thin
  • Very light
  • Decent grip
  • Limited protection
  • Comes in several colors

If you want the absolute thinnest case on the market, the Totallee case is where it’s at. Measuring just .02-inches thick, this adds virtually no weight or bulk to your iPhone 14. However, it also doesn’t offer much protection beyond simple bumps and scrapes. You don’t have to make any compromises when it comes to style though, as it comes in a wide variety of colors, including clear and frosted finishes.

Spigen Thin Fit

Spigen Thin Fit iPhone 14 case
  • Thin and light
  • Scratch-resistant
  • Very affordable
  • Somewhat slippery
  • Five color options

This thin case is frequently one of our favorites and one of the most affordable iPhone 14 cases you can buy. There are no bells and whistles here, just a thin, scratch-resistant polycarbonate finish. It doesn’t afford the same level of grip as the option above, but it does still come in five different colors. It’s also half the price, making it an easy pick for anyone on a budget.

UAG [U] Dot

UAG U Dot iPhone 14 case
  • Thin and light
  • Soft-touch silicone finish
  • Built-in magnets
  • 16-foot drop protection
  • Four color options
  • Pricey

If you want a simple thin case with a bit more style, this option from Urban Armor Gear might be the pick. It’s made of soft-touch silicone with a nice hand feel and decent grip, plus an attractive dotted pattern on the back. There’s also a built-in magnet array for MagSafe accessories, and the company promises 16 feet of drop protection. UAG is well known for its rugged cases (see below for more), making this the only thin case capable of protecting your iPhone 14. However, it’s also the most expensive at $50.

Apple Silicone Case with MagSafe

Apple iPhone 14 silicone case
  • Premium soft-touch silicone
  • Thin and light
  • Gorgeous colorways
  • Built-in magnets
  • Limited protection
  • Pricey

It wouldn’t be a complete list of the best iPhone 14 cases without a few of Apple’s excellent first-party cases. The Silicone Case is the simplest of the bunch, and it’s remarkably similar to the option above (without the dots). It’s a soft-touch silicone case with a built-in magnet array. It also has some of the most attractive colors of any of the iPhone 14 cases we’ve seen, although it’s a bit pricey due to the unavoidable Apple tax.

Best rugged iPhone 14 cases

UAG Monarch Pro Kevlar

UAG Monarch Pro Kevlar iPhone 14 case
  • 25 feet of drop protection
  • Kevlar finish
  • Lanyard holes
  • Built-in magnets
  • Very expensive
  • Cheaper non-Kevlar model available

I mentioned that Urban Armor Gear makes great rugged cases earlier, and this is the cream of the crop. The Monarch Pro Kevlar features an incredible 25 feet of drop protection, which is literally higher than a typical two-story house. Apart from that, it has a tactile grip with DuPont Kevlar, built-in magnets, and even lanyard/strap holes. However, it’s very expensive at nearly $100. If you can do without the Kevlar and just 20 feet of drop protection (which is more than enough), the standard UAG Monarch Pro is roughly half the price.

Otterbox Defender Series Pro XT

Otterbox Defender Pro XT iPhone 14 case
  • Very resistant
  • Pocketable design
  • Dust covers
  • Built-in magnets
  • Clear designs available
  • Optional holster

Otterbox is another staple in rugged cases, and the Defender series is its top-of-the-line product. It offers incredible protection, from dust ports to military-grade resistance. Compared to the case above, it’s a much more sober design that’s slightly more pocketable. The black design above is the classic look, but there are several color options available, including two clear colorways. All of them have built-in magnet arrays for MagSafe accessories.

Pelican Shield Kevlar MagSafe

Pelican Shield MagSafe case iPhone 14
  • Slick Kevlar design
  • 21 feet of drop protection
  • Built-in magnets
  • Five protective layers
  • Included holster/kickstand

Next up is yet another Kevlar option, this time from Case-Mate subbrand Pelican. It sort of blends the two cases above, providing a more streamlined design that still retains the Kevlar look. Make no mistake, though, because this is one of the best rugged cases you can get for the iPhone 14, with 21 feet of drop protection, multiple latches to secure your phone, and an optional holster with a kickstand. The only downside is that it only comes in black.

Spigen Tough Armor

Spigen Tough Armor iPhone 14 case
  • Rugged design
  • Very affordable
  • Built-in magnets and kickstand
  • Only comes in black and gray
  • More Spigen options available

The Tough Armor is the most rugged case that Spigen offers for the iPhone 14, and although it doesn’t quite have as many bells and whistles as the options above, it still ticks all of the important boxes: excellent shock absorption, integrated magnets, and a relatively slim profile. It also has a kickstand, although it’s a bit flimsy for our liking. If you want something with a more tactile finish, Spigen also offers the Rugged Armor, which is more lightweight, and the Mag Armor, which is even lighter. All three options are among the cheapest rugged cases you’ll find for the iPhone 14.

UAG Plasma

UAG Plasma iPhone 14 case
  • Featherlight protection
  • Clear finish
  • No magnets
  • Works with wireless charging/payments
  • More UAG cases available

Next up is another UAG case, but with a much more lightweight design. It shares the same design language as the Monarch lineup above, but with a featherlight clear backing. It’s still rated for 16 feet of drop protection, but it loses the built-in magnets. If you’re addicted to MagSafe accessories (or want more color options), the UAG Pathfinder is very similar and boasts a few extra features, for a little extra money. Not into the bumpers? The UAG Civilian is another option with even more features and a simple monocolor design.

Best clear iPhone 14 cases

Spigen Ultra Hybrid MagFit

Spigen Ultra Hybrid MagFit iPhone 14
  • Clear, lightweight design
  • Good protection
  • Built-in magnets
  • Three color options
  • More Spigen clear cases available

The Spigen Ultra Hybrid is a favorite of ours at Android Authority, and it’s by far the easiest clear case to recommend for most phones. It’s a simple clear case that’s not too thin to offer solid protection, and it has built-in magnets for MagSafe accessories. You can also choose from three colors for the magnetic ring to better match your phone’s natural color. If you don’t use MagSafe accessories, there’s another version without the magnets that’s very affordable and comes in a wide variety of colors. There’s also a version with a kickstand, although it kind of defeats the purpose of a clear case.

Caseology Skyfall Clear

Caseology Skyfall Clear iPhone 14 case
  • Clear backing
  • Nice color options
  • No magnet array
  • Military-grade protection
  • Good grip
  • Affordable

While it isn’t completely clear, the Caseology Skyfall Clear offers the best of both worlds. It has a clear backing with colored bumpers, affording better grip and military-grade protection. There are three colorways available for the bumpers, and although we would have liked to have seen more, there should be something for everyone. Caseology offers another clear iPhone 14 case without the bumper and with a magnet array, although it’s very similar to the Spigen Ultra Hybrid above.

UAG Pylo MagSafe

UAG Pylo clear iPhone 14 case
  • Excellent drop protection
  • Clear or colored borders
  • Slightly bulky
  • A bit pricey

Need a clear case with even more durability? The UAG Pylo MagSafe, like the rest of the company’s cases, offers exceptional protection — in this case up to 16 feet. Despite this, the design is still a simple, crystal-clear case without bumpers. It’s slightly thicker than the two cases above, but it does incorporate a magnet array in the back. If you are into bumpers, there’s an option with colored plastic around the edges instead of clear. The only downside is that it’s quite a bit more expensive than the other clear iPhone 14 cases above.

The best iPhone 14 wallet cases

Smartish Wallet Slayer Vol. 1

Smartish wallet case iPhone 14
  • Holds three cards and cash
  • Many designs available
  • Not compatible with wireless chargers
  • Very affordable
  • Not compatible with MagSafe accessories

Smartish has made quite a name for itself in the wallet phone cases business, and once again it makes one of the best options for the iPhone 14. The Wallet Slayer Vol. 1 is a simple card holder case, with an open slot for three cards and some cash. It comes in a wide variety of designs, including one that’s completely customizable. If the hard exterior isn’t for you, the Wallet Slayer Vol. 2 features a very similar design with a fabric build and an added kickstand. However, be aware that neither design is compatible with MagSafe accessories or wireless charging.

Mujjo Full Leather Wallet Case

Mujjo Full Leather Wallet Case iPhone 14
  • Luxurious leather finish
  • Soft and premium
  • Holds one or two cards
  • Works with wireless chargers

We’ve got a full section for leather iPhone 14 cases below, but this leather case doubles as a wallet case. Granted, it doesn’t hold much — just a card or two — but sometimes that’s all you need. Plus, it’s made of luxurious Ecco leather that will develop a beautiful patina over time. It comes in three colors: black, tan, and blue. Each one works with wireless chargers, but there are no built-in magnets so don’t expect a solid connection. It’s a simple design, even for a wallet case, but it looks and feels like the premium case your iPhone 14 deserves.

Spigen Slim Armor CS

Spigen Slim Armor CS iPhone 14 case
  • Holds two cards
  • Can be a tight fit
  • Very affordable
  • Three color options
  • Good protection
  • Not compatible with wireless chargers

Although it’s unlikely that your cards will slip out of your case, if you’re worried about losing them this Spigen wallet case has you covered. It features a sliding door mechanism on the back that houses two cards. It also has a remarkably slim profile, although we found that embossed cards can cause a tight fit. Still, it’s one of the cheapest wallet cases you can buy for the iPhone 14, and it will keep your phone safe, to boot.

Otterbox Strada

Otterbox Strada iPhone 14 case
  • Folio-style design
  • Genuine leather finish
  • Excellent drop protection
  • A bit pricey
  • No built-in magnets

Next up is a genuine leather wallet case with a more traditional folio design. The flap is perfect for keeping your screen safe from scratches while in your pocket or purse, and it doesn’t add too much bulk or weight to the phone. It’s also made by Otterbox, so it has the same great drop protection you’d expect from its rugged case lineup. However, it only has space for a few cards and cash. The company claims its compatible with MagSafe accessories, but without any built-in magnets, the connection is weak.

Smartish Dancing Queen

Smartish Dancing Queen iPhone 14 case
  • Purse-replacing design
  • Space for five cards and cash
  • Faux leather finish
  • Only comes in black
  • Bulky

The Smartish Dancing Queen is a bit on the bulky side, but it’s the closest thing you’ll get to a purse replacement on your phone. It has space for five cards and cash, and it comes with a long strap so you can wear it on your shoulder. The faux leather finish is only available in black, but you can choose from a few printed designs (or upload your own). However, the printed designs will wear off over time.

Best leather iPhone 14 cases

Mujjo Full Leather Case

Mujjo Full Leather iPhone 14 case
  • Beautiful Ecco leather finish
  • Decent protection
  • Three color options
  • Limited MagSafe compatibility
  • Pricey

We’ve linked the wallet version of this case above, but this one is probably a better buy. It’s a simple but attractive Ecco leather case that comes in black, tan, or blue. Sure, it isn’t “real” leather, but the Ecco leather is much more environmentally friendly, and it will still develop a beautiful patina over time. Compared to the wallet version, this leather iPhone 14 case is compatible with more MagSafe accessories and chargers. However, there are no integrated magnets, so don’t expect them to stick for too long.

Apple Leather Case with MagSafe

Apple iPhone 14 Leather case
  • Soft, supple leather finish
  • Built-in magnet array
  • Five colors available
  • Pricey

If you want better MagSafe compatibility, you have to go with this first-party case from Apple. You shouldn’t think of this as a concession though, because this is by far our favorite case that the company makes. It’s made of specially-tanned leather that’s supple and soft to the touch, developing a natural patina as the case ages. It also features a built-in magnet array so you’re getting full compatibility with a wide range of MagSafe accessories and chargers. It comes in five attractive colors.
