Taika Watiti cradles Baby Yoda in Father’s Day tribute
The brilliant director, Taika Waititi, who brought us JoJo Rabbit, Thor: Ragnarok, What we do in the shade and that eighth and last episode of The Mandalorians In the first season, the breakout star of the Star Wars show was honored as part of Father’s Day celebrations.
“Happy Father’s Day. Love my kids,” Waititi posted on Instagram on Sunday. A gem of a picture held behind the scenes for a moment, when he rocked Baby Yoda.
Waititi, who looks like he’s staring thoughtfully into space, gently supports the doll that doesn’t seem to be like a puppet. Baby Yoda became a cultural icon and inspired when he first appeared on the Disney Plus Show Memes, Toys and … songs.
We’ll next see the little guy in season 2 of The Mandalorian, who had already finished filming in March before Corona virus The pandemic forced productions around the world to take a break. The next episodes will land on Disney Plus in October.
Waititi is a busy man: his upcoming Next Goal Wins sport feature (of course a comedy) is in post-production, but his current project Thor: love and thunder, a sequel to Ragnarok, has been reported to be thrown back by planning conflicts in Australia.
On the Star Wars front, it was announced in May that Waititi, together with the 1917 screenwriter Krysty Wilson-Cairns, will direct and write a Star Wars film. If the picture above is something to see, the project is in safe hands.
