Suunto 9 Peak smartwatch specs, image revealed via FCC listing
- A new Suunto watch has appeared at the FCC.
- With the title Suunto 9 Peak, it appears to be a companion model to the Suunto 9 Baro from 2019.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen a Suunto smartwatch debut. Now a new model has appeared at the FCC called the Suunto 9 Peak.
With model number OW194, the Peak is apparently an upcoming addition to the leading Suunto 9 line. But the FCC list doesn’t do much to set it apart from its siblings. In terms of aesthetics, the Suunto 9 Peak has a similar bezel and button layout to the Suunto 9 Baro. One major difference, however, is the use of a more pliable bracelet instead of a silicone option.
As for specs, it also shares several capabilities with the Baro. The peak sports weather functionality with integrated barometer, 100 m water resistance, sapphire crystal surface and integrated navigation is intelligent. It also offers intelligent battery management, integrated GPS and tracking for over 80 activities and sports.
Aside from the model number and the optimization of the strap, it is unclear what the Suunto 9 Peak’s USP could be. The last time the Peak nomenclature appeared in Suunto’s list was the Ambit 3 Peak from 2014. Despite its monochromatic display, it remains a fairly popular fitness watch in the Finnish company’s list.
The last notable smartwatch from Suunto was the Suunto 7. This device included Wear OS, long battery life, and excellent GPS tracking for an outdoor watch.
There’s no indication of when the Suunto 9 Peak will make its official debut, but its recent walk through the FCC suggests its arrival may not be too far off.
