Survey says: In S21 Ultra vs Note 20 Ultra, newer wins

Last weekend we released a review of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra after the phone is six months old. While we concluded that the phone is still pretty incredible, we couldn’t help but feel like the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is now overshadowing it. In the end, we chose the Galaxy S21 Ultra as a better buy.

Of course, our opinion on the battle between S21 Ultra and Note 20 Ultra is just that: our opinion. Turns out there are a lot of people who disagree with us and think that the Note 20 Ultra outperforms the S21 Ultra. Although the S21 Ultra is newer, more powerful and even cheaper, in the eyes of many it is no substitute for a note.

Below is all of the data we have collected from our surveys. In total there were tens of thousands of votes Android Authority and our associated social media pages.

S21 Ultra vs Note 20 Ultra: The data

In the table below we have collected the data from the three places where we conducted the survey. Here, at Android AuthorityThere were 1,738 votes. Our Twitter poll saw 2,553 votes and our YouTube poll saw over 23,000 votes.

Interestingly, the outlier graph is from this website. The data we’ve compiled here is almost the exact opposite of the data we’ve gathered from the other surveys. In other words, there was a higher percentage of Note fans voting here on the website than on Twitter and YouTube.

What’s even more interesting is that the S21 Ultra vs Note 20 Ultra battle results on YouTube and Twitter are almost identical. That’s incredible when you consider that YouTube received roughly ten times as many votes as Twitter. Hence, these two sets of results seem likely to be a more accurate representation of our followers’ feelings.

I have both phones and the performance difference is small and they are both very good phones, but at the end of the day the S21 Ultra is still no clue even with the S-Pen sleeve. Note 20 Ultra is still a better phone in my opinion.

I’ve been using my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra at home without a case lately and the camera bump wasn’t an issue at all. That being said, I sadly have to say that I generally agree with this review, and that comes from a huge Note fan whose last three phones were Notes.

As a Note 20 Ultra user coming from a Huawei Mate 20 Pro, I largely agree with most of the points made in the article. I particularly agree with the camera bulge, which is a problem with the pockets (it likes to trap things when put in a pants pocket).

If you choose ULTRA you will need the S-Pen in the phone. It’s part of the Ultra experience and it makes a huge difference.
