Spotify is testing virtual events – ProWellTech
Spotify Explore virtual concerts, Twitter test the number of quotes, and Google’s Nest Hub becomes more hotel-friendly. This is your daily crisis for August 26, 2020.
The big story: Spotify tests virtual events
We can’t give concerts in the real world right now, so the popular music streaming service is looking for virtual alternatives. The feature isn’t live yet, but the reverse engineering scoopster Jane Manchun Wong is tweeted Photos of an “Upcoming Virtual Events” section.
Spotify is already highlighting upcoming concerts by artists you like through various ticketing partners, and the screenshots show Songkick as a ticketing partner. Presumably, Spotify could support virtual events with only minor changes to its collective agreement.
And how big can these events be? K-Pop Megastars BTS raised nearly $ 20 million for a single show – but it’s likely safe to assume that most of the events will be well below that.
The technology giants
Twitter is experimenting with adding a number of quotes to tweets – this engagement metric would stand alongside the tweet’s existing retweets and likes counts.
Instagram guides may soon help developers find recommended places, products, and more. Launched in May, the feature enabled selected organizations and experts to share resources for managing your mental health.
Google is pushing for the Nest Hub to be placed in more hotel rooms – A new update is tailored to the hotel experience, adding key features like wake-up calls, weather, and local businesses.
