SpaceX invites 2020 grads to launch their photos on historic ISS flight

SpaceX is set to send two NASA astronauts to the International Space Station on May 27th. “To celebrate the 2020 class – from kindergarten to graduate school – SpaceX and NASA are inviting students from around the world to submit their photo to fly on America’s first human space flight in almost a decade.” Said SpaceX.

Graduates (or prospective graduates) can submit a photo of that SpaceX Class of 2020 websitewhere it is integrated into a mosaic picture of the earth.

The Earth image is printed out and flown on NASA’s Crew Dragon capsule along with Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley Demo 2 mission. The deadline for submitting photos ends on May 20 at 9:00 a.m.

You can explore the mosaic on the SpaceX site. Zoom in and see the graduates. Some wear their hats and dresses. Some posed at home or took selfies for the occasion.

The Demo 2 mission will represent many milestones. It will be the first launch of people from the United States since the end of the space shuttle era in 2011. It will be SpaceX’s first human space flight. Now it will also help mark the final milestone for students around the world. This is a suitable way to celebrate.
