- Sony has introduced a limited edition of these WH-1000XM4 headphones in Silent White.
- The new finish is more dirt-repellent than the black, blue or silver options.
- Currently they are only available from the UK and Europe for £ 400 or EUR 459.
Sony just found another way to keep their WH-1000XM4 headphones relevant despite stiff competition: they offer them in a hard-to-find color. Slashgear reports that Sony has launched a limited edition of the headphones in Silent White.
It’s more than just a color change. According to Sony, the white headphones have a pearlescent finish that adds a sense of depth and refines the tactile feel. More importantly, the new shade is reportedly “even more stain resistant” than the black, blue and silver models currently available. You shouldn’t have to worry about them picking up dyes from your bag or clothes.
The performance of the white Sony headphones is of course identical to that of any other WH-1000XM4 model. That’s not a bad thing. You still get strong active noise cancellation, up to 30 hours of claimed battery life, NFC compatibility, and tweaks for voice aids like Alexa and Google Assistant. We found that they deliver excellent sound with a comfortable design and minimal background noise, albeit with tricky touch controls.

The catch, as “Limited Edition” implies, is availability. Sony has so far only committed to launching the silver and white WH-1000XM4 headphones in the UK and Europe, where they will be available from May for £ 400 or EUR 459 “until stocks last”. There is no mention of any North American publication. If you see a couple and you have the resources to find them quickly – you may not get a second chance.
