Samsung’s Galaxy S30 might support 65W fast charging

The Samsung Galaxy S30 (or whatever it may be called) is largely a mystery right now, but we may know something about its fast charging capabilities. GalaxyClub (about SamMobile) has found South Korean certification for a Samsung 65W charger, which is a significant step up from the company’s optional 45W adapter.

There are no other technical details about the potential Galaxy S30 charger, although the name EP-TA865 suggests that it is a direct continuation of the 45W building block (EP-TA845). This means that USB-C is used for mobile devices, not laptops.

Whether or not the Galaxy S30 supports 65W fast charging is another question. While many modern Samsung phones allow 45W charging, the Galaxy Note 20 series doesn’t – there is a chance that other phones could do the same. Samsung doesn’t bundle its fastest charger with any of its phones. Hence, you may still have to buy one for the Galaxy S30 regardless of its features.

However, there are incentives for Samsung to achieve faster power supply. It’s no secret that 65W charges are becoming more common, even on budget phones, and may appear on upcoming high-end models like the OnePlus 8T. Brands like Oppo have even implemented ultra-fast 125W charging. Samsung may want to add a 65W fast charge option to the Galaxy S30 in order to stay competitive, even if it’s just about bragging rights.

The function might be important for some. Rumor has it that the Galaxy S30 series may not make significant advances in battery capacity. If you’re struggling to spend a full day with an S20 Ultra, you might see the same thing with the new model. Adding a 65W charge would at least give you more power on that charge at noon.
