Samsung’s free TV service is now available on the web
TL; DR
- Samsung has quietly made its free TV Plus service available on the web.
- You no longer need any of the company’s phones or televisions.
- The service now competes with Pluto TV, Tubi, and other rivals with free ads.
No more need to buy a Samsung phone or TV to try out the company’s Plus service. Both protocol and Android headquarters Note that Samsung has made its free TV offering available online so you can stream on virtually any device with a browser. The mobile app also supports Chromecast streaming.
A Samsung spokesperson announced that the tech giant quietly launched its free web-based TV in the second quarter of the year – it just didn’t advertise the expanded platform. It’s not clear why Samsung has been quiet, but soft launches like this give companies the ability to refine a service without the usual pressure.

The current version of TV Plus offers free access to around 140 streaming channels, including ABC News Live, PBS Kids and a large number of special channels. You need to sign in to a Samsung account to watch some channels, but others are unconditional. As long as you are familiar with ads, there are no other terms.
With the move, Samsung TV Plus is competing with other free services, including Pluto TV and Fox’s Tubi. It might also give you a reason to steer clear of hardware-bound rivals like The Roku Channel. It’s not a surprising move in that regard. Streaming services often need large audiences to be successful, and the web version could help TV Plus grow. It’s also an endorsement that services help sell hardware – TV Plus on its own may not make a lot of money, but it could be a factor next time you buy a device.
