- Further specifications for the Samsung Galaxy A42 5G have surfaced.
- The details come from an infographic from Samsung.
- No official word yet on availability or pricing in the US, but we expect a launch in Europe in November.
Samsung confirmed the existence of the Galaxy A42 5G at the beginning of September, but only shared a few details about price, technical data or availability. Now an infographic from Samsung (via SamMobile) highlighted the phone’s credentials.
The Galaxy A42 5G has a 6.6-inch HD + AMOLED display with a notch. It’s one of the larger Galaxy A devices in the range, 164mm long and nearly 9mm thick. It will weigh 190 grams on your bag as well.
Internally, Samsung relies on an unnamed octa-core CPU with two 2.2 GHz cores and six 1.8 GHz cores. There is no mention of the cores or architecture so we cannot confirm the exact chipset used in this device. It is possible that Samsung uses the Snapdragon 750G because it fits the mentioned clock rates and core arrangements. In either case, the phone comes in 4GB, 6GB, or 8GB of RAM. This is also associated with 128GB of storage and a microSD card slot.
What else should you expect?
A quad rear camera array contains a 48MP f / 1.8 primary camera, an 8MP f / 2.2 ultrawide snapper, a 5MP depth sensor, and a 5MP macro snapper. A 20MP sensor is responsible for taking selfies.
The Galaxy A42 5G has a 5,000 mAh battery with 15W fast charge so it doesn’t stay juiced when booting up on high-speed networks.
Prism Dot Black, Prism Dot Gray and Prism Dot White are the color variants, with all three flaunting the four-color horizontal stripe design.
Samsung’s infographic doesn’t shed additional light on availability in the US, but it is likely that this device will be Samsung’s cheapest 5G model when it launches.
In a September press release from Samsung Germany, we know that the Galaxy A42 5G will retail for € 369 when it is released in Europe in November. This makes it cheaper than what is currently the cheapest Samsung 5G phone – the Galaxy A51 5G – which starts at $ 500.
