TL; DR

  • The A52s 5G is an upgrade of the base model A52 5G.
  • New is a fast Snapdragon 778G processor and an awesome mint color.
  • It launches in the UK on September 3rd.

Samsung announced the A52s 5G on Tuesday, a small update to the original A52 5G that introduces a faster processor and a new Awesome Mint colorway.

The A52s 5G comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G chip instead of the original 750G chip. The 778 should be powerful enough to handle 4K HDR video. The color Awesome Mint compliments existing black, white and purple options.

General specifications of the phone include a 6.5-inch 120Hz Super AMOLED display and four rear cameras with wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle, telephoto and macro lenses, although only the wide-angle lens has optical image stabilization. While the wide-angle camera sensor is rated at 64 megapixels, the sensor sizes for macro photography shrink to just 5. The front-facing selfie camera is a 32-megapixel unit.

Further highlights are a 4,500mAh battery with 25W fast charge, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and IP67 dust and water resistance. The base has 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage as well as support for microSD cards up to 1 TB. An 8GB / 256GB version should be available, though Samsung didn’t say when and at what price.

The phone seems to be only for the UK so far, although that may change. Pre-orders start August 24th for £ 409 ahead of the September 3rd start date.
