Samsung will ‘unveil its vision for the future of smartwatches’ next week
TL; DR
- Samsung has announced a virtual MWC event for June 28th.
- The company says it will “reveal its vision for the future of smartwatches.”
Google announced a new version of Wear OS at its virtual I / O event earlier this year, and the big news is that the search giant is working with Samsung to develop the platform. Now Samsung has announced that it will host a MWC virtual event next week, and you can officially expect smartwatch-related news here.
Samsung announced that it will host a MWC virtual event on June 28 at 7:15 p.m. CET (1:15 p.m. ET). The company says it will “show how the Galaxy connected device ecosystem will give people even more opportunities to enrich their lifestyles.”
It’s a pretty cryptic passage from the Korean manufacturer, but in the very next sentence we get an explicit confirmation of the smartwatch focus.
“Samsung will also be showcasing its vision for the future of smartwatches at the event, offering new opportunities for developers and users that will enable a new era of smartwatch experience.”
The company is widely expected to launch the Galaxy Watch 4 smartwatch with Wear OS soon, so we expect the wearable to debut at this event. The watch and its variants appear to have passed the FCC as well, adding more weight to an upcoming launch.
Samsung also says it will talk about “the latest security improvements and innovations” at the event. We suspect this is related to Knox and other software features, as evidenced by the Knox logo in the invitation image above.
