- Samsung reportedly plans to ship 26 million Galaxy S21 series devices in 2021.
- This apparently corresponds to the number of Galaxy S20 series devices sold last year.
The Samsung Galaxy S21 series has three great flagship phones with the barrier to entry lowered to $ 800, while the top-end S21 Ultra in particular receives several major upgrades.
You would think the reduced price would translate into more sales across the board, however The Elec reports that Samsung has made a more conservative estimate for deliveries in 2021. The Korean news agency claims that Samsung estimates that 26 million Galaxy S21 series devices will be shipped this year.
Interestingly, the outlet notes that the Galaxy S20 series sold so much in 2020, adding that Samsung has rated that number as unconvincing. Reportedly, this estimate was set for the S21 series due to the impact of COVID-19 on physical stores and its position in the premium segment.
The basic Galaxy S21 accounts for 10 million shipments (40%), while the Galaxy S21 Plus and S21 Ultra could each account for eight million shipments (each 30%). Samsung’s estimate for Ultra model shipments is believed to have increased from last year’s S20 Ultra estimate as demand for the Ultra 2020 model was apparently underestimated.
In any case, we are pleased that Samsung is bucking the trend of rising flagship prices in 2021. Hopefully the company will exceed its target. Are you thinking of buying a Galaxy S21 series device? Let us know via the poll below!
