ETNews Reports (h / t: SamMobile) that Samsung has managed to develop the S Pen functionality for foldable phones and has therefore decided to move this feature to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in the third quarter of 2021. The Korean company is expected to mass-produce the relevant parts from May and complete foldable parts from July.
According to news channel, Samsung had to overcome a few hurdles in bringing support for S Pen to a foldable phone. The first obstacle is to make a screen that can withstand the pressure of an S-Pen, as pen input would scratch and damage current folders. Another obstacle from ETNews is that the digitizer used for S Pen input recognition must also be foldable. Fortunately, these issues seem to have been resolved.
